Yesterday was a banner day for the Penn State football program and Penn State as a whole. College Gameday did a nice job presenting Penn State in a real positive light, mentioning Sandusky only once that I can recall and only in the context of the We Are statue and what it means. That story presented Penn State in a terrific light and most certainly will give new meaning to that battle cry. I know I’ll think of it differently now that I know the back story. Retire Wally Tripplet’s number!
ESPN talked about the white out, how it’s the greatest atmosphere in all of college football; the best student section in the Country; our tailgating; and what a terrific job James Franklin is doing. Anyone watching could not be more impressed with PSU.
Then there was the game. Before getting into that, the crowd was incredible. A new record, over 110,800 fans clad in all white, just wow. They measured the decibel level at about 115 at its highest and in the upper 100s throughout the game. I can’t help but feel that had to have a tremendous impact on recruits who were there and other recruits watching on television.
Now the game, could we have asked for much more? No, we weren’t perfect, but we were damn near perfect and we made Michigan’s vaunted defensive line look pedestrian. The offensive line, which consisted of 3 sophomores, a freshman and one lone senior, did an absolutely awesome job. Barkley was Barkley and our defense showed the Country that Michigan isn’t the only B1G team with a solid D. In fact, we showed them we have an even better defense.
Yes, it was a banner day for Penn State… now let’s keep the momentum going on the road next weekend. IN my best Spyker voice with cupped hands and laser focus “OHIO STATE, OHIO STATE, OHIO STATE, OHIO STATE, OHIO STATE”
