I just had a “discussion” (more like an argument) with a friend over the recruitment of Josh Adams. My friend took the position that Adams was our no. 1 runningback target last year but our coaches are terrible at recognizing talent. I stated that we targeted Barkley, Robinson and Adams and that once Barkley and Robinson committed, we told Adams that he could still come to Penn State but he’d likely play LB. Adams wanted to play RB and thus picked Noter Dame. For you guys who remember, weren’t we basically “filled” at RB when we accepted both Barkley’s and Robinson’s commitments? Of course, this all started because Adams took the ball 99 yards for a td against Wake Forrest yesterday so my friend is arguing that we screwed up by not taking him, “he’s way better than Barkley” and Robinson can’t be that good because we redshirted him, if he was any good, he’d be playing now. I pointed out that ND has had terrific offensive line recruiting over the last 4 or 5 years and if it weren’t for injuries, Adams wouldn’t be playing, either. Anyway, I thought Adams was definitely interested in us until we got Barkley and Robinson and therefore chose ND, That’s the way I remember it but hey, I could be wrong. What say you guys?
