I'm sure his contract would have been significantly smaller if he insisted on the money during his playing days but he would have had the benefit of the compounding...if he didn't spend it or if he didn't invest it wisely or die.
I was wondering about that. Specifically, about whether some of the player contracts might be fully guaranteed, in the sense that the player gets paid in any and all events (i.e., even if there is no season). Apparently not.The joke is he's the highest paid in 2020 -- because unless MLB and it's players come to an agreement, nobody else will be getting paid.
