Rivers handed us a lemon....and Franklin turned it into lemon meringue pie.
Why does this seem like such a big deal to me? Maybe its because its a late score for us, something that rarely happens, maybe its because of the constant hand-wringing about LB depth, maybe its because I felt like a jilted Ex-lover after Rivers decommited? I don't know, but I am very happy about this pick-up, I think this kid is going to be a beast.
Who needs slow moving "Rivers" when you can have active, fast flowing "Brooks"?
No one player makes or breaks a program - or even a recruiting class - but this year, he was, IMO, the most impactful (potentially) of any of the "late deciders"
Great job by staff - - - I expect that the only other guy they would "like" to get is the S from Maryland, but even he isn't a heavy "need" - and I am not 100% sure if they have room (though my best guess is they could fit him in)
It's a big deal because LB depth is the reason we lost to pitt this past year. No way they run for 300 yards or whatever it was in the first half if we have our experienced LB's playing. And it's a big deal because we have to wait another year to put pitt in their place (i.e. the rear view mirror) ....
And it's a big deal because LB depth has been an issue for a few years, and because LB depth is really the last position on the team to recover from the 65 scholarship hose job we got.
And it's a big deal because CJF and his crew, on the heals of a great season, could go out and get a great young man and player at a position of need very late in the recruiting cycle.
Other than that, no big deal......
But CJF will need 3 more great LB prospects in the 2018 class to really restock LB talent. For now, it will be great to see if any of the 3 2017 LB recruits can see the field in 2017.....

Those numbers look sharp on the side of the helmets.
Agree with everyone... Great Job by JF and this whole staff to deal with late decommit from Rivers and going out and getting a 4 star LB to replace him in short order. Says a lot about this staff.
Pretty impressive to offer and land a higher ranked replacement within a week of losing a recruit this late in the process.
Exactly Judge... don't know for sure if he was the backup plan but either way if he was the back up plan or the staff identified him quickly and thought they could close on him in short order, impressive job by the staff. Speaks volume's about this staff and being able to adjust late in the game to adversity and come out winning.
Looking at the pics and video of him he looks at least 235... guy looks like he is chiseled out of granite. Impressive physique for a senior in high school. 4 more years here in the weight room he should be quite the specimen by the time he graduates.

I always like it when Penn State signs quality players, but ESPECIALLY linebackers. This is good news.
