Battle on the Midway

FYI .. CBS Sports channel is showing the Battle on the Midway on Sunday at noon. Looks like Wisconsin - Fresno State - Army - Navy wrestling on the deck of the retired aircraft carrier. Looks like a replay from tomorrow's Nov. 1st match. Doesn't look like FLO is cover the event. I have it DVR'd. I need a wrestling fix.

Totally unrelated to wrestling, but if you ever get the opportunity to tour the Midway it is fascinating.

My boys wrestled the finals of a RMN event on the Midway over the summer. Pretty awesome experience for younger kids.

When I was in WA, the father of one of the guys who I coached served on the Midway. They are pretty excited about the idea of having duals on the open deck. I hope they get a chance to go see it sometime.

San Diego has plenty of memoirs to that battle. Along with the USS Midway, there is the USS Nimitz, Nimitz Blvd, Midway Drive, Spruance Road., Fletcher Parkway, Waldron Way, Hornet Way, Yorktown Drive, Enterprise Street and probably a few others that I don't know about.

For anyone who is really interested in the real story, read Shattered Sword. It's the best book about the battle and probably one of the best military history books ever written.

agreed. Went and got it after reading the recommendation on an earlier thread. Worse part, if any, is you know how it ended!

The Wisconsin Fresno St match is actually separate from the Battle on the Midway the early duals are the AFC Duals at a pier. Then the evening matches are on the USS Midway.
