"Federal spending has gone from from $2.9t to $3.9t since Obama took office. You call that a lot of spending being yanked out?
Your thought of people coming out of retirement to support bridge building is silly. And even if it was true these people would receive higher benefits when they went back into retirement.
Your question was more of a statement but OK, I'll play. The current recovery has been the slowest in history. I don't expect things to completely turn in 1 year but I do expect them to improve faster than as least one other period in our nation's history."

Federal spending has not exceeded much more than $3.5 billion since Obama has been President. It was over $3.5 billion for FY2009 for which W signed off on the budget and TARP. And had two wars he was spending on.
With four months to go, as of May 2015 data, the spending could project to a little over $3.7 billion. So you're full of it. Spending has essentially been flat since he took office. Yet you guys claim the Republicans by cutting spending have improved the economy. You can't have it both ways.
You're naïve if you think many older people would not go back to work if the economy improved. For one thing, so many feel far behind due the recession when they lost their jobs. And your child like if you think I think they'll work in construction. You conveniently forget multipliers. Almost every kind of job will see increase demand. Especially for people who can put off getting SS and Medicare benefits for a few years. And finally, you're blind. Yes there are lots and lots of lazy people out there. There are also many people who enjoy working, helping people and contributing to society. People who most certainly did not to lose their jobs or businesses by choice.
