Blair will be there, so presumably Henckel is wrestling. At first glance, he appears to be the only recruit or current target. (I might have missed others -- 180+ schools are listed with no brackets yet.)

Faith Christian will be there --> Bachmann brothers, who will be likely targets in upcoming years.

Sem is listed, too, so Desmond, right? Another Desmond-DeLuca showdown?

Desmond is a warrior, he battles at everything. Deluca barely wrestles, He logs about 5-10 matches a year.

DeLuca wrestled (and won) both Ironman and Beast of East in 2023. He also wrestled Who's Number One in 2023, losing to Anthony Knox.
These tournaments in addition to the Blair regular season matches in 2023-24.

That’s a great win. Pretty sure Burton beat him last time they wrestled. Maybe at WNO? Henckel continues to impress. I think he blossoms even further in the PSU room. Not sure where he fits but I’m not counting him out

Yeah these upper weights are getting ridiculous. Barr is just a beast he is starting to remind me of Nickel as far as confidence and controlling the mat. We are going to have a log jam. I'm hoping we get to see Ryder next year.

Yeah, it’s just a numbers issue. I’m not giving up on anyone, but to win a spot, he’s going to have to beat out someone the caliber of Sealey/Duke/Ryder (not to mention Asher as well). That’s just brutal. I’m certainly not going to write off any of those guys, either.

Happy Monday FANS! I'm here to report that the weekend at the University of Delaware was absolutely phenomenal ... OKAY - missing Sem A team, missing Delbarton ... but otherwise, 1100 wrestlers put on a show! I realize we had a screw up at 132, the world knew DeKraker was a hammer -- Sometimes when too many hands add ingredients - things get messy. Overall - the Beast group puts in 1000s of volunteers hours to give the kids an opportunity to showcase their talents at a great venue! Thank you to all the teams, fans, and media who were in attendance! OW was Knox, winning his 3rd title ( covid in 21 prevented him from a 4th ) ... I will be back in 25, I love the role I play to help keep the machine running smooth! Cheers to all, Happy Holidays

Have to give an ode to Will Henckel, he's a guy that I admittedly have not had penciled in many lineups but that was wrong of me, he has all the potential in the world. He's a Top 15 PFP talent and solidified that after beating Burton who is 14 right now.

Few thoughts on him:

1. He got big moved by Asher and went down 10-3 after 2 and just broke Asher with his relentless pace in the 3rd and SV
2. He seems to be very strong on top and has the right mindset to set up turns with his legs. Burton was unable to register an escape after getting taken down in the 2nd and choosing down in the 3rd.
3. To points 2 and 3, I'm very bullish on his folk ceiling being higher (he lost to Burton in free but the mat was a huge difference in folk) because of all that but he has some very good free results also. Notably beating Sealey in freestyle in 2023. He also was down 3-2 to Gabe Arnold and had his leg up in the last second before Gabe got a switch this year.
4. Frame wise, he definitely will be a 184 at least by college IMO.

5. Finally my favorite part, this is another kid who is following his dream. He's been wearing a headgear with the PSU logo forever. He's definitely aware of the upper weight jam. To my knowledge, he is a kid that recruited PSU pretty hard. During his recruitment, I remember his family was constantly posting Penn State references on his OV pictures to other schools (basically telling him to follow his dream) and when he committed, his younger sister (who is an elite wrestler also) posted a picture of him in his bedroom that was completely decked out (including the bedsheets) in PSU stuff.

I still don't have him penciled in to any future lineups, but not because he isn't a top 15 pfp hammer, but because his competition for roster spots at Penn State consists of Sealey, Ryder, Barr, and Mirasola, who are all either top 10 pfp talents in their recruiting classes or 22-0 in college as a freshman. No offense to him. Someone isn't going to make it, and while he's good enough that it wouldn't surprise me if he does beat one of those guys out for a spot, I'm not betting on it. His best bet for a starting spot at PSU is greyshirt, redshirt, sit, sit, and have 2 years to start when Sealey/Ryder graduate, and that's assuming Cael doesn't recruit another top 5 PFP in the next class or two to challenge for the spot. It's a tough road.

I think he's going to be a 184. I think the path there is somewhat clear actually because I believe Ryder will be a 174 ultimately but that's just my guess. I think Ryder's physical advantages are a lot greater at 174 than 184 and he's been filled out for a long time.

Given Cael’s penchant for avoiding harsh cuts, my guess long term is 165 Duke, 174 Sealey, 184 Ryder, 197 Barr/Mirasola. I really don’t think Duke is a long term 157, so if he goes up to 165 as soon as MM vacates the weight, it forces Sealey up to 174. That leaves Ryder to either cut to 174 and challenge Sealey or not cut and challenge Henckel at 184. That probably leaves one spot for Ryder or Henckel. Obviously, a lot can happen before any of this is actually relevant in two years, so that’s just guess, but it seems logical to me.

That’s not even considering Asher, who is also looking more and more like an AA level hammer.

My thinking is Ryder is much like Gave Arnold . I think both would best compete at 174. The cut may be uncomfortable for them tho..

They're very similar wrestlers in what they do, Zack just does it better as shown by their matches
By the time Zach has spent a year receiving the attention a PSU starter gets the separation will be wider than the distance between State College and Iowa City.

He’ll be so far ahead of him, the dust will have settled before Arnold gets to where he was (imagery trademarked by Bob Nicolls)
