I'd guess 3/4 of flight from Avoca this morning was PSU fans. Might be higher percentage on flight from PHL to Indy. If it ever takes off.

Two 6 am flights from @FLYLVIA (one to Detroit, one to Atlanta) looked like #PennState charters. Anecdotal evidence of bif PSU crowd in Indy

I think we will outnumber them 3 to 1. Ton of tickets still available though. On the secondary market, Stubhub still has over 7k and the lowest price has dropped to $12.

Taking my family to game......meeting my daughter with her 8 sorority friends at Lucas Oil.....daughter is saying that this entire week for her group of friends has been obtaining tickets, and hotels......and of course lots of studying.

I do not want anyone throwing a flag on this due to no pictures, if any does, I will start multiple threads about: 1) running out of the I formation 2) taking the Victory snap under center 3) bringing in a fullback for Barkley 4) wondering how many years we have for Pry, Jo MO and CJF stay at PSU and lastly I will start a thread wondering if we really have had bad calls against us and wondering if we are not all just paranoid.

I've gone to Indy the past two years. Of course 2014 was more fun for an OSU fan but even last year was a nice getaway for my wife and I.

For those going, safe travels and enjoy the atmosphere.

3 of us driving over tomorrow morning. Freshen up then hit the town with lots of time to spare.

Big surprise that there aren't a huge number of Wisconsin fans living in the Lehigh Valley.

Imagine that -- more PSU fans flying out of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport than Wisky fans. I never would have suspect that. ;)

If the PSU beat writers were reporting these numbers of PSU fans flying from Madison, WI, then I would be surprised/impressed.

Sounds to me like you completely missed the point, Debbie Downer.

really? They think there's going to be a big PSU contingent at the game. And that's based on the limited data set of flights out of Allentown, PA and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA.

Based on the data set of BWI's boards, I could have told them days ago that there was a lot of PSU fans headed to the game.

It makes sense that b1g hates us. All that fan support is no good.

Perhaps those who can't make it would like to experience the event in a vicarious manner.

I'm sure you'll be in attendance, and wouldn't be surprised if you were in a suite with some powerful folk, sipping the finest scotch. Let us peasants have our fun.

That said, I would like to hear what the terminals at the hubs look like.

I will supply a pic of a future PSU goalie for you.

Yep. Those 2 regional flights are actually pretty strong evidence on their own (especially since regional flights feed traffic to a whole bunch of destinations - they show where people are heading).

I can share a different anecdote. I went to the Dublin game last year, I flew American Cincinnati-O'Hare-Dublin. So I show up at Cincinnati's airport, I had a Penn State hat on but I certainly wasn't expecting any other PSU fans at Cincinnati's airport.

But: there were two others on my regional flight to O'Hare. And I saw two others waiting for the Cincinnati-Newark United regional flight, they were connecting in Newark. And one other waiting for the Cincinnati-Charlotte regional flight, they were connecting in Charlotte.

I knew right then and there --- just on the basis of seeing 5 other folk --- we'd have a HUGE crowd in Dublin. And we did of course. Those 5 folk were a rather large number of PSU folk to be at a SW Ohio airport. The actual American flight I took from O'Hare to Dublin had to have been 80% fans of either Penn State or UCF (there were some UCF fans too). That from O'Hare: not in the center of PSU territory.

"This just in, I was on a flight to Orlando last week and about half the flight was wearing Steelers coats. Confirmed that Florida is 50% Steelers fans."

But on a serious note, I imagine that PSU will have a big showing. The fan base is large and invested, the rising from the ashes story line, not to mention the championship game fatigue that could reduce Wisconsin numbers for an out of state game. I'd be shocked if PSU fans don't outnumber Wisky fans 2-1.

Or using this board's usual calculations, 77-1.

TROLL ALERT!

And just imagine if Pitt somehow managed to get into a CCG. They'd be outnumbered by about 200-1. Or maybe since they'd be playing for the first conference championship in their history the Pitt fans would come out in droves. It that case it might be 199-1.

You may be sure, but you would be quite wrong. I won't be at the game.

I think 199-1 might be about generous if the game is more than 20 miles away from campus.

And of course on my way to SD last month I ran into my brother heading to LAX at the airport--which must prove that my family is *everywhere* [as we do not live in the same city].;)

So how's this for a little more objectivity:

We (four of us) checked into our hotel last night (booked through hotels.com, not some PSU-related site). Since then, I've seen two groups of UW fans totaling five people. I've also seen two other groups of older PSU fans totaling four people, and five or six groups of PSU students rolling up, totaling at least 24 kids.

Is it safe to say that this hotel, at least, is occupied by a large majority of PSU fans compared to UW fans, or should I assume that all the UW fans are staying in their rooms while all PSU fans are out and about?

Slightly off topic, but PSU was representing well in Orlando this week (family vacation in Disney - surprise first trip for 9- and 3-year old kids!). Clemson gear topped the list (for obvious reasons), but PSU was a close second. Lots of "We Are" chants during the week! Re: ACC, only noticed one or two Tech fans. Re: B1G, Michigan was second followed by Ohio State then Wisconsin (with two random Gopher fans, including one with a Minnesota hockey T). Following one "We Are" chant from my son to a PSU fan in front of us, a humorously indignent OSU fan behind us uttered something which caused me to notice him; after offering that OSU at least was the B1G East division co-champs, he started to make some seemingly annoyed response but I was already on my way out of earshot as one of my kids was running to a ride line.

Family vaca was great (stayed at Polynesian and kids had a blast - they are over-tired now, though, due to many late nights in the parks and a delayed flight last night to Philly!), but I had to sell my MSU tickets last week and will be watching the B1G CG on the tube instead of attending in person... I'll never make the mistake of scheduling a trip at this time of year again, lol!!!

Go State!
