Just before the Alma Mater (at the end of the game), what is the name of the song that was played? I know the song was played during warm-ups and during the game.

Thank you.

Can’t believe they play that song.

And at a University (like most) that drives themselves hoarse with their proclamations vav “inclusivity.... microaggressions.... safe spaces etc etc etc”

What a bunch of hypocritical douchebags (as if yet another example was needed)

A) It's requested by the team
B) You did how see how both they AND the students reacted when it came on
C) It was actually an edited version
D) Stop telling people get off your lawn lol

I’ll stop ....... when the Nutsack-lickers at the University stop telling me that holding the door open for some “non-binary” person is a microaggression.

And if you think that crap is “cool” to be blasting at a football game (“edited” or not) - - - - - - - -
then, quite frankly, I got nothing else to discuss with you on the topic. Nothing.

Sorry grandpa if you think it's crap or not but ... college football is more for the players and students than anyone else. In addition, it's clearly what "kids" or at least college students listen to. If you don't like it ... at this point too bad lol. I'm 32. I'm not going to pretend I like a lot of rap/hip-hop from the 2010s on. That being said i'm not going to bitch about a song playing that hyps up our student section that they themselves clearly listen to.

LOL, if thats the case we will never get the money for the stadium "upgrades".

MAKE. SOME. NOIIIIISE.

GET. READY. TO. ROCK. AND. ROLL.

DEAN. DEVORE.

SWEET. CAROLINE. :eek::eek:

Speaking of Sweet Caroline, I don't recall it being played on Saturday. Or maybe I just tuned it out. Either way, I'm better for it.

And with as uptight as the university is, I chuckle when they play Wagon Wheel and "met a trucker out of Philly, had a nice long toke."

Red Sox have it licensed so that we don't play it as long as they were in the playoffs. You'll probably hear it again during the Wisconsin game

It’s not like the BOT is clearing the Beaver Stadium playlist each week.

And I’m pretty sure that anyone that would be offended by the song has no idea about the actual lyrics.

TOUCHING. ME. TOUCHING. YOU. :eek::eek::eek:

At what point were either of those two "items" a point of discussion?

Not that you don't have every right to introduce a new topic at any time.... just to be clear.
Who are the “hypocritical douchebags” that played the song while also doing whatever else it is that you consider hypocritical? Unless P.J. Mullen has done something that I’m unaware of, then I’m not sure that this song choice goes quite to the level that you imply.

LOL

Thanks... now it is clear where your "level" is.

Or you could just have known what I meant and not been a dick about it but ... to each his own. Then again maybe that's asking you to use just a few more brain cells than you probably have just saying

Hmmm. Well they did in the past, hence the season without Sweet Caroline and them dumping Gary Glitter.

Who - in any official capacity - from the university has told you directly that holding the door open for a non-binary person is a microaggression. Give us names so we know who hurt you so badly and we can go after with pitchforks and torches.

Mo bamba by Sheck Wes. Listen at your own risk.
Just listened for the first time. Sound is good. Lyrics could use some work. I can see why college students and players like it though.

How popular were songs like “humpty hump” and “let me clear my throat”... not that they played them in Beaver Stadium.

No white guy is even allowed to sing that song or he'd be labeled a racist. Penn State should be ashamed for playing a song that's nothing but a bunch of profane, obscene and racially insensitive lyrics.

they played that at a wedding I was at this weekend...well, the reception. Kids (in their 20's) went nuts. Anyone over 30, especially the white ones, were like WTF? Amazing that this is played in a public setting. I mean, many people can't even express opinions anymore without getting thrown off of a college campus. Yet, this song gets prime time play? Amazeballs.

Ok..... so explain to a dummy like me :) , “what you meant”:

“Red Sox have it licensed so that we don't play it as long as they were in the playoffs.”

You know the agreement where we don't have more than one whiteout a year since that's Winnipeg's thing? We have the same postseason agreement with the Red Sox (at least this year). Jesus Christ

Schools all over the country play Sweet Caroline. Do they all have the same agreement with the Red Sox? Does Neil Diamond have any say so in the matter?

Neil Diamond owns the rights to Sweet Caroline. I'll let the legal types take it from here.

I would assume PSU pays a licensing fee to ASCAP and then they can play whatever song they want covered under the license.

Here's my "GET OFF MY LAWN" take on it:

Along with "appeasing" these young men, shouldn't their university experience also teach them to be good and thoughtful young men? To anyone who sees nothing wrong with Mo Bamba, go sing the lyrics to your mother/wife/sister/girlfriend.

I’d like to think of myself as “good and thoughtful”. And yet listening to 2 live crew in my teens and twenties didn’t change me. It’s music.

Heavens to murgatroyds - have you looked at the lyrics to "December '63 (Oh What A Night)?" that is often played after a big win? No way should they be allowed to play a song about an intimate night with a lady of which the protagonist of the song doesn't even know her name. How shameful!

"Oh, what a night, you know I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night
Oh, I, I got a funny feelin' when she walked in the room
Oh my, as I recall it ended much too soon
Oh what a night, hypnotizin' mesmerizing me
She was ev'rything I dreamed she'd be
Sweet surrender, what a night
I felt a rush like a rollin' ball of thunder
Spinnin' my head around n' takin' my body under"

I didn't know the song at all but if the players and fans like it, works for me. But, you can tell the team misses Marcus Allen - he was sort of their musical director. I looked up the lyrics to 'Mo Bamba' and they're mostly terrible; if not for the beat, no one would like the song. At least with Allen, he was playing stuff with clever lyrics, like Lil Uzi Vert's 'Now I Do What I Want' where the rapper laments having to point out his watch is not a Rolex, but in fact a Franck Muller....sigh.

And one was released 43 years before the other - theme being times change and something that could have been considered offensive at one point in time is now considered passe. Heck I still hear "Walk on the wild side" on the oldies station - not sure how that gets past the censors.

Now they the words have been posted to both offensive songs we can make our own decisions. I don't think there is any real comparison but that is my own opinion. Frankly, they should distribute the words to all attendees so we all know what we are participating in.

Yes, the students and team members were very excited and many other fans joined in, not unlike what happened back in the early 2000's when the whole stadium music programming changed. PSU became the envy of the nation acc. to Herbstreit. Yet things can go too far as the pendulum seems to swing past the sweet spot to the ridiculous nearly every time. Each generation has its own and this is theirs.
