I think most people think of the Casablanca scene with that anthem.
I looked up the translation. There’s more spunk and blood lust in their anthem then they’ve ever showed on the battlefield.

In Chtasablanca ( the movie) the battle of the bans was between the "Marsellaise" (French National Anthem) and "Die Wacht Am Rhein." This was not the German Anthem. This was song was chosen due to copywright issues. Each song was written about each other invading each other. (i.e., French invading Germany and vice versa)
As I recall, it's now been banned, as Kate Smith has been labeled a racist.
