I live in Nashville, where Clay is based and he is everywhere here. On radio, tv, commercials etc...... so although I like some of what he says, watching him go absolutely insane about the PSU score with 6 seconds to go was quite enjoyable. He had WVU covering against PSU.

Clay published his picks on Friday and he legitimately was 11-0 up to the PSU Game. He picked 15 games and he ended up 12-3. Still really good.

I had preferred PSU taking a knee there for sportsmanship and potential injury reasons, and it also made me think of the new casino coming to town.

Respectfully, no.
2nd string, in game 1. Beau getting some real experience executing instead of hand offs and a knee. That's important. And, whether you like it or not, at the end of the season, the voters split hairs and look back at margin of victory. 38-15 looks like more impressive than 31-15.

I'm fine with Franklin doing what he did. I like it. I wonder what the reaction would have been in the roles were reversed. I recall a lot of people being upset about teams scoring late against us. Just have to be consistent with the reaction.

When the other team is going for two, trying an onside kick, and taking timeouts, the game is obviously not over, so you play until the end. Neal Brown can’t have it both ways.

Yes because there are no injuries in any other part of the game. That is most lame excuse ever.

As for sportsmanship there were plenty of examples of behaviors by players on the field that were unsportsmanlike in that game. It's time to get real.

That's what kills me about the criticism of the last TD. WVU played like the game was on the line until very last minute. I understand and respect that, but I don't respect whining about the opponent doing something other than laying down with their second team offense while your first team D is still in the game. Doing you want to keep playing or don't you?

I don’t hear anyone talking about the last FSU TD where they ran a TE reverse on the goal line to make it 45-17 with about a minute and a half to go.

I think it’s interesting because the fact that it impacted the spread and gamblers seems to get more attention than anything about “sportsmanship”. So I guess there’s that air of potential manipulation especially given betting scandals going on.

That being said ironically I do wonder if the spread played a role because I’ve seen a number of times people criticizing Franklin/PSU for not “covering” in games and implying they are overrated. So maybe making sure we beat the spread was something going into the decision making process (which it shouldn’t be but it’s the world we live in, especially with only a four team CFP)

Exactly, PSU ran vanilla plays and ran the Game Clock until the Play Clock was almost expired on all snaps where the Game Clock was running - it's absurd to say that it's PSU's fault that the game was extended by at least 3 plays via WVU's timeouts or the fact that they couldn't stop PSU on 3rd-&-10, 3rd-&-7, 4th-&-2 or 2nd-&-Goal from the 6.... on very vanilla plays. If WVU's 1st Team Defense tackles Pribula on the last play, the game expires without PSU scoring. PSU ran the absolute fewest plays they could to run the clock out - it isn't PSU's fault that WVU kept extending the game via timeouts or that they couldn't stop PSU on vanilla run plays. Don't blame CJF at all for trying to get his 2nd Team offense some real game experience with a meaningful goal (keep the ball out of WVU's hands and don't let them have another possession. When PSU took over the ball with 3 and one-half minutes left and a 13 point lead, the game is not over - especially if PSU had gone 3-&-Out. I applaud CJF for having the confidence in Pribula and much of his 2nd Team to put them in the game in that situation. No way do you tell them they need to take a knee in that situation - WVU wants to extend the game and play to the end, then they need to tackle on a very vanilla 2nd-&-Goal from the 6 which wasn't snapped until the Play Clock was expiring and the Game Clock was down to 6 seconds.... They make a basic play on a vanilla run and the game ends without PSU scoring.

PSU cover means more money in the pockets of Penn State fans, which is good for PSU. More happy betting alumni means more donations to PSU NIL.

1. You get your backups game experience. Remember when Clifford went down at Iowa in 2021? The backups need game reps. You never know when they’ll be needed.

It’d be different if the starting offense was in there running up the score. But they weren’t.

2. Didn’t WVU get the ball back and run a play with one second on the clock? So PSU backups should take a knee but WVU starters should run plays? Weird.

If they didn't want PSU to score maybe WVU could have stopped them. Seems we are the only ones to egt ripped for supposidely running up the score.

Truth be told, I'd have been ok working on another live FG attempt.
