It's easy to get spoiled. Most schools would be happy with a 2nd place finish. I am disappointed. No more so than the team, who bust their butts every day only to come up short here. Well, we still have the Nationals, but right now, what I felt was a sure thing a week ago is very much up in the air.

It would take near perfection - and a couple breaks - but it's not entirely over yet

The concern for nationals is obviously Jimmy. Hurt? Sick? Odd since he was wrestling his best coming in.

Do you get points for winning the 3-4 matchup?

Blue Point Siamese
Ah. My wife and I have had a couple of Siamese in our marriage. Our current cat is a Mink Tonkinese, which you may know is a cross between a Siamese and a Burmese. She looks a lot like this one.

He's actually in quarantine in a spare room for another week after his treatment. Completely cured though. The first few days my arms were tingling being in there for short times. He's taking it like a champ though.

No points in the first 3 weight classes is a killer for the Lions. They'll regroup for the nationals.

Could be a nice wake up call for the team. Fuel for Sanderson to motivate the team.
Wake up call?

They wrestled without Suriano - who would probably be a 15+ point guy

Obviously, didn't have. point getter at 133

And then you have Nickal getting upset, and whatever the hell happened to Gulibon.......
And they still came within a hair of winning the damn thing (despite having OSU wrestle at the absolute top of their game

Hell of a performance - I would think

They'll be fine

Fire Chambers, Gadowski and Franklin too (no verbals in what a week?). Fire them all!!!! Time to clean house. Whoops, wrong thread.

That's why sandy gets paid the big bucks. At least I think that's the reason.

With Suriano defaulting (which was smart) IMHO and Gulibon blowing apart (for some as yet unknown reason) this team did well as I see it. It's on to nationals where I hope Suriano and Gulibon show up healthy and ready.

Steel Curtain says Pitt has the fastest wrestling team in the country,Elite Speed!

Wow...Nickal got beat? Holy Smokes....
Yeah, a bit surprising, but that guy (Myles Martin of tOSU) has beat him before (unfortunately, in the national finals last year at 174). 184 was a loaded weight class in the B1G this year, and Gabe Dean of Cornell may be the best of all at that weight. Still, I like Bo's chances at nationals; his loss over the weekend could provide a little extra motivation.

i agree that Bo's loss should instill some competitive simmering in him for the ncaa tournament. He is a good young man but I think he has ups and downs at times, as do we all, which happen against very good competition as it shows his weaknesses. Not that Bo has many weaknesses but when you wrestle the best you have to be at your best and any little gleam of an opportunity is taken advantage of by elite opponents.

I suspect Bo will be fine in two weeks. Whether he wins it all is a big question but he should score some important points for us and could be a difference maker. I'm looking forward to seeing him perform there after this disappointment.

Look at it this way. We conceded two weight classes. Gulibon had a bad weekend. We were down to Ohiya by 18.5 points after Day 1. Despite having three finalists to Ohiya's six we closed the gap to finish 9.5 points behind. We went 5-0 in the consolations! It was a perfect storm for Ohiya. Hats off to them. I like their wrestlers but can't stand their coach.
