I think that result is going to change very quickly once BAMA, AUBURN and OREGON get their hands on UM, MINNY and WISKY. Other than Jimmy getting clobbered I wish it weren’t so, but I’m thinking it will.
I love Penn State football and love to read the Message Board, yet I am so surprised at all the hate that is spewed forth on this Board, first always wanting to get rid of Franklin, the dislike for the rest of the Big Ten and so on and on. I think PSU has made two good hires after the Board fired Joe. Franklin is a great recruiter, he has reached out geographically to parts of the country we hardley ever had a presence in before, he recruits student-athletes that make PSU proud, he represents the University extremely well, he has, for the most part, hired good assistants. Can he get us to the promised land, I don't know. Some of that is dependent on how far the University wants to go and spend in the arms race to reach that pinnacle.

3-1, but that 1 loss is in what really matters for the casual fan's national perspective -- the playoffs. When the top of your conference can't win a game in the playoffs, it hurts the national perception of the top of the conference (which we are a part of). A good bowl record can help stiffen up the perception of the bottom and middle of the conference, but we are not a part of the bottom or middle of the conference.
There is no hate for Franklin. Perhaps a fan or two but that is out of several thousand. Read the 'Bama boards, that HOFer gets it too. The Big Ten has it coming. The Big Ten is the big two little 12...they promote nothing but UM and tOSU. Michigan, for example, is NOT a NYD6 team and gets a NYD bowl against a premier opponent. How does that even happen?
why does everyone think those 3 are automatic losses for B1G??
Bama probably has no interest playing in a non playoff, non NY6 bowl and their new QB didn’t look good.
Oregon isn’t very good. They beat a vastly overrated Utah team. Now everyone thinks their great. Taylor will run in Oregon.
Auburn has lost pretty much every ranked game they played? I know they beat a uninterested Bama team.
We have as good a record with a stronger strength of schedule than all three. Nobody will know, which is the shame of it, but we could have beaten any of the three.
It's a select few who bitch about Franklin. The majority are thrilled to have him.
As long as Penn State wins, I don't much care how the rest do... except that no matter what, I want Michigan to lose. It would somehow be even more wonderful if M is the only B1G team losing their bowl!
I can get behind the good and bad of other B1G teams' bowl results. When/if a particular outcome helps Penn State somehow, then that's the side I'm on.

Who knows, I simply made a prediction for the other three of which I’m allowed to do. But I’m certain that you have factual data to refute me before the games are even played. Oh here’s a fact, I’m certain that you predicted a win for OSU last night. How did that turn out?
I would’ve loved to see a Penn State Auburn game, or Penn State Oregon.

Guys - we won the Cotton Bowl!!!! 10 years from now nobody will care that it was 12/28 at noon! We won a NY6 bowl against a 12-1 team in a game in which the G5 team was actually 3-2 going in. It was not a gimme and we ground them up
When the polls and bowls mattered in choosing a champion then it mattered what your conference teams did in bowl games.
That time is long gone.
If you go undefeated or have one loss while playing in a P5 conference you get consideration. The “eye” test and who you beat matters now.
With something like 18 teams having ten or more wins we will have debates every year about who should be in.
I would like to limit a playoff pool to four conference champs and then select from there by the “eye” test. That makes conference play valuable and allows the talking heads to get their two cents in.
That way Clemson has a shot even though their schedule was poor. A Wisconsin has a shot if they play five top 15 teams, lose a couple games, but win the conference.
I for one would like to thank the other BIG teams thus far. The conference is a respectable 3 and O....hio State.
The citrus bowl is not a NY6 bowl. While I agreee the BIG promotes Michigan and OSU, Michigan playing in the Citrus Bowl this year is not an example of this favoritism. IMO, Michigan belongs in the Citrus Bowl this year.
Ok. But um is in a much better place to promote their program because they have a better day and time slot plus a game where they can improve their reputation. Psu could have won 55-0 and it wouldn’t have helped us.
To me Minnesota should be in the Citrus but the matchmakers wanted the Alabama/Michigan brand name contest.
Who has the best all-time bowl record among B1G teams?
