Big night for wrestling team!

It's really not--they'll win easily. Wrestling isn't real competitive. It's great that we dominate but this won't be competitive.

This PSU Team may be one of the best wrestling teams of all time. We may have 10 wrestlers qualify for NCAAs and may get 7-10 on the podium at NCAAs.

If you are a PSU fan watch PSU when they wrestle either in Person or on Big 10. This team is 85 Bears, 79 Steelers, 2004 Patriots team...... if you are a sports fan you can watch and appreciate how damn good that we are at Wrestling........ it is so fun to watch!!

Tonight SVN was incredible. Kasak gave us the picture of the year with the celebration with 3 seconds left against the #1 in the country.......

Enjoy the wins. We will win Big 10s. We will win NCAAs this year.............. DOMINATE!!!

What a shock that Loado tries to marginalize the greatest dynasty in the history of sports 😂
Shocking you don't comprehend what was being said...they are an elite dynasty and one of the best ever. What Rose did with out WVB however was more impressive because of the competition that exists at that level. Check the history of wrestling and team titles. This is nothing new. Just glad it's happening here.

We all know wrestling isn't competitive and never has been. The score outcome last night proves that. An outcome we all knew before the match started.

And he's dead wrong that it wasn't worth watching.

There were several interesting high level individual bouts. And the excellence of the Penn State wrestlers should be appreciated, not just dismissed.
Where did I say it wasn't worth watching?
Never said that. Said it wouldn't be competitive and it wasn't.
Their excellence is appreciated
Is my statement wrong that the match wouldn't be competitive? Do you need to score again?
Is my statement wrong that wrestling has always been dominated by 1 or (at most) 3 teams....
Checking the history. It's there for you.
The best want to wrestle for Sanderson...because he makes them better. We're competing against ourselves to see how much we can win by.

You seem to have a fundamental mis-understanding about the nature of wrestling--either that, or you just like to make controversial observations that generally diminish Penn State sports.

It is primarily an individual sport -- one wrestler vs another. And there is a team score that is the aggregate of the individual scores. So PSU was widely expected to win the team score, but many of the individual bouts were very competitive. So "it wouldn't be competitive" does not tell the story accurately. Winning 8 out of 10 individual matches vs the #2 or #3 team in the country is not like blowing out Kent State in football. There are some very close competitions at various weights that won't be settled until the national championships.

Those around here who have caught your know-it-all asshole comments are not surprised when you come up with takes like this. And then continue to try to justify your comments. Your act gets old.

I'm well aware it is an individual sport--however, when we're discussing Penn State's dominance that's a "team sport"

A few bouts being competitive doesn't make the match competitive. Winning 8 out of 10 against #2 in wrestling isn't beating Kent State. It's beating Maryland--that's the gap between us and everyone else which is a credit to Sanderson and the dynasty he's built.

Again, what was the final score? We dominated as, you admit, was "widely expected".

This goes back to you incorrectly stating it wasn't worth watching. Just like I watch Penn State vs Kent State football--you should watch anything you enjoy. To claim "your act gets old" because I said we would dominate (which we did) and that wrestling has always been this way (which is has) doesn't make sense. What act?

Sanderson has built an elite program--it's so good that no one can compete with it. That's giving him (and the team) the ultimate compliment--they're so good the second best program had no chance, zero chance, of winning.

What are the betting odds for us to win a team national title? We were -21.5 (last i saw) yesterday against #2. -21.5. But, I'm the asshole for acknowledging it wouldn't be competitive.

He is the village idiot based on his wrestling comment. Your explanation was perfect

Lando - you are too young to know anything about Div 1 College wrestling.
If you can, try to learn the history of the four major teams and their individual contributors, when they 'dominated' the team national championships. Iowa - Iowa State - Oklahoma - Oklahoma State and the outsider that never won - Lehigh. Then understand the complexity of the private school's sports programs in the East that have supported different sports 'stars' in their high school years and contributed to PSU and many other college teams too many to mention here.

IF and or WHEN you have a knowledgeable comment - then and only then can it be known - otherwise, let us older ones who have seen years of PSU sports have our time on all boards. BTW - I finished in 1966, so I have known players, coaches and Admin in the years since. You haven't.

I'm too young? What? lol
These comments get more and more ridiculous. I literally talked about the history of the sport being dominated by 1-3 teams. We all know that--and you supported that while throwing in Lehigh (that never won).
Again, I said the match wouldn't be competitive. It wasn't. While arguing with me one even said that we were "widely expected" to dominate. We all knew the result before the match took place.
Again, this is all a compliment to Sanderson and the dynasty that he's built but also a true assessment of the sport
Only I can be criticized for saying Penn State team is so good that there's no competition lol

Dude, why do you insist on being a lightning rod? There is a lynch mob after you on this site. Eventually, they are going to get you banned.

Lol...for what? Not agreeing with insane people...
I'm comfortable but appreciate your concern. Anyone mad over this has truly lost their mind.

It's just a reality. We were up huge when I checked earlier
Wrestling just isn't competitive--and never has been.
That doesn't mean what we're doing isn't impressive. It's very impressive that we get all the best wrestlers.
Why couldn’t Penn State win like this before Cael Sanderson arrived? Pennsylvania wrestling has been great for a long, long time. Could it be that Cael and assistants are just that good?

It would take a national all-star team to defeat or even be competitive with this PSU squad in team scoring, both in a head-to-head match and in tournament competition.
It’s fun when the school you support puts on a dominating performance, but I question a bit if constant domination is good for the sport. I believe a saw this week that Cleveland State will become the latest school to drop its D-1 program.
There is virtually zero chance any school but PSU can win the national team championship this season. That’s likely to remain true for next season and, perhaps, multiple seasons beyond. That won’t help reverse the slowly dying trajectory of the sport.

Where did I suggest it wasn't because of Cael? Of course, that's it. Cael is a legend--he's an elite recruiter and coach.
That's how wrestling has worked for decades. A team (or at most three) control everything.
The entire point is that we're so good that there is no competition for us. See the score
I don't know how anyone is taking this as an insult or a negative.

Not only is Carl an elite coach and recruiter, his workout room is likely the most competitive environment in the sport.
I would be curious to know where PSU’s second team would be ranked if it wrestled a full season schedule. I don’t follow the individuals and recruiting enough to know if there are multiple PSU reserves who could make a bid for the NCAA podium but can’t yet make the PSU lineup.

Hosts a match with Iowa.

7:00 PM on BTN.
I have been a PS wrestling fan for almost as long as I have been a PS Football fan, and I attended my first PS Football game at Old Beaver Field as a 7-year-old kid. I have never seen anything like this wrestling team. I have nothing to compare them to they are that good. I guess one word does it, DOMINATING.
