What are you most lnterested in at Big Tens? Here are some candidates:

1. Nolf's health. (Will he wrestle? How many matches? How will he perform?)
2. Can Kuhn qualify by finishing in the top 10? (Looks like he might get Tomasello in the first round and then has to win a few matches on the backside. Can he do it?)
3. Joseph vs Marinelli (rematch) & IMar (VJ is 1-2 against him) If so, can VJ claim a #1 or #2 seed at NCAAs?
4. Shakur vs. Moore
5. Lee vs. McKenna (rematch; Lee is 0-1 against him)
6. Nevills vs. Snyder (Nevills is 0-2 against him)
7. Hall vs. Jordan (Hall is 2-1 against him)
8. Retherford vs. Sorensen ((Zain is 5-0 against him; Can anyone keep from being bonused?)
9. Nickal vs. Martin (Nickal is 5-2 against him)
10. Keener. Will he finish in the top 7 to automatically qualify?
11. PSU vs. tOSU. Will Penn State dethrone Ohio State to reclaim the Big Ten title?
12. Non-PSU matches: (a) who will win 125? (b) Coon vs. Snyder (rematch) (c) dark horses? (d) potential upsets?

2). Kuhn will qualify
3). Joseph over the bill but not Imart
4). shakur here
5). Lee will learn from that loss and win here
6). Snyder primetime guy, won’t be close
7). Hall won’t lose to BoJo again
8). Zain Train, won’t break a sweat
9). Bo, won’t lose to Martin again
10). ???????? I hope so, not confident
11). OSU here but not when it matters.

Took me a bit, when I first read your post I thought you were referring to rounds in the tournament not number of times each has wrestled. I said to myself " what planet is this cat on having high seeds wrestling early in the tournament "

I see the ambiguity; I tried to clarify the wording. Thanks.

The heavyweight drama will be found in the consi bracket. Unless someone other than Nevills, Hemida, or Stoll takes 3rd, I think that finisher gets the nod over the Pac 12 Champ (Dhesi/Butler) for the 4-seed. Chance for 3 if Kasper gets upset.

One more: I still think Michigan stands a chance in this tourney. It's unlikely, but they could wind up with 4 or 5 champs, if Massa has recovered more, on the outside even 6. I'll be rooting for them whenever they aren't facing PSU guys.

Here's all I know from that list:

5. Nevills will not beat Snyder.
8. Sorensen can avoid bonus against Retherford. Already has, on a couple occasions, including a few weeks ago.

I might be alone on this, but I question if IMar will be tournament ready.

Only 11 matches under his belt.
No tournaments this year.
Wanzek is the only top-10 wrestler he has faced.
Last wrestled Feb 11th.
Perry is no longer there.
Who's pushing him in the room? Parker, Langenderfer?????

I'm not doubting his talent. If it's one match, winner take all, I choose IMar against any one wrestler in the field. IMar against the field though, I question if he'll be sharp enough to win 3 tough matches in a row.

First thing I am most interested in is Nolf's health. Second, if he does wrestle, what type of tactics does he employ? Will he be able to be the Matrix or look to score a takedown then ride out the rest of the match? Just hope he is healthy.

8. BD lost in OT in dual last year and got decked at NCAA’s as well, so can he avoid it, sure . . . But not if he wants to try to win.

1. Yep, and he’ll sit out semi’s or maybe finals
2. Yep, Kuhn finds a way
3. Yep and this weight will be awesome!
4. I’ll take Shakur
5. Lee by 1 in regulation
6. Snyder by 6-9 points
7. Hall by 1-3 points
8. Retherford by major
9. Nickal by 4 points
10. Keener finishes in the top 7
11. Been a homer so far, PSU takes it if Nolf wrestles to the finals...if he defaults before then - tOSU repeats
12. who will win 125? Lee (b) Coon vs. Snyder? Snyder (c) dark horses? Kuhn and Keener (d) potential upsets? Abounader and Shak

Pac 12 (or 5) held its tourney yesterday. 3 wrestlers that earned the conference allocations failed to capture the automatic bids (Nickell 133, Rohlfing 141 & Hammond 157). If Corey Keener does not grab one of the 7 spots from the Big 10, Nickell would be one of those he is battling for an at large. Nickell beat him 7-0 at the Scuffle.

1. Nolf will wrestle and he will win the BIG Championship. 8-3 in the Finals.
2. Can Kuhn qualify by finishing in the top 10? 50-50 chance. Impossible to handicap since we have seen so little of him.
3. VJ handles the Bull comfortably (6-3 or better). Has a 1 point match vs IMAR in the finals.
4. Shakur vs. Moore. I think Shakur wins it all. With a cradle.
5. Lee vs. McKenna - Lee wins this one unless he gets stuck underneath for a long time again or for a turn (as I recall he was almost turned for swipes last time?). Lee has the advantage on feet and on top. Cannot let himself get beat on bottom.
6. Nevills vs. Snyder. I don't see NN staying with Snyder. Capt America is way better on feet and I don't see Nick getting back points unless Snyder tries something big again
7. Hall vs. Jordan. Hall is a big stage guy but vs Jordan is always a barnburner. Will be sweating this one out. If Hall can get first takedown he will win comfortably. If not, it will be very close.
8. Retherford vs. Sorensen - Zain wins again but no bonus. 6-1.
9. Nickal vs. Martin - Bo looked so dominant last time. Hard to see him losing.
10. Keener. Keener gets it done. Finishes top 5.
11. PSU vs. tOSU. Will Penn State dethrone Ohio State to reclaim the Big Ten title? Yes.
12. Non-PSU matches: (a) who will win 125? (b) Coon vs. Snyder (rematch) (c) dark horses? (d) potential upsets? a) Suriano. b) Snyder c) Chad Red and Mitchell McKee, d) Colin Moore doesnt make the finals.

Good info; thanks.

I like your take here. I think most would like #1 happening above some of the other pro PSU predictions.

I'm hearing that Nolf likely won't wrestle at Bigs. Please don't push for a source (I have no intention of revealing it), but I believe what I've heard. I suspect that he will wrestle at nationals, but may not yet be "ready" to go 100% for a full tournament. I still think that smart money is on Nolf to win it all again.

I think the BIGS/NCAA you see a more basic Nolf- more TD and Ride-Tilt.
protect knee from bad positions.

By "may not yet be ready", are you referring to B1Gs or NCAAs? Thanks.

I've heard that it's a slightly more serious injury than many believed. Based on what I've heard, he's unlikely to wrestle any matches at Big Tens but he and the coaches have every intention of him making a full-court press at nationals. The question becomes, will his rehab and treatment have been enough to get him near 100% and I simply don't know the answer to that. I believe that Jason Nolf at 80% probably wins a title though.

I promised myself I would not participate, but just this once.

I am not asking for a source outing, but I would like to know - if you believe it is OK to do so. You have heard from someone who would know, or someone who seems to generally have some insight? Big difference.

When I ask I just got a look that suggested I know better than to even ask.

1. Nolf's health - Not 100% but will go and win a B1G title.
2. Can Kuhn qualify by finishing in the top 10? - He will not qualify.
3. Joseph vs Marinelli (rematch) & IMar (VJ is 1-2 against him) - He beats Marinelli in the semi's if he doesn't try to go big. If he just outwrestles him he wins. The Bull won't get past his defense. It's a toss-up between him and IMar.
4. Shakur vs. Moore - Shakur wins this, if Moore even makes the finals. Shakur will be B1G champ.
5. Lee vs. McKenna (rematch; Lee is 0-1 against him) - Mckenna wins here again. Second place at B1Gs as a true freshman is nothing to sneeze at.
6. Nevills vs. Snyder (Nevills is 0-2 against him) - Not close. Snyder wins easily.
7. Hall vs. Jordan (Hall is 2-1 against him) - Hall worked all year to be able to ride Jordan. Hall has become a very good rider, and Bo will have nothing for him. Mark is too good in neutral for Bo and Hall will get out easily against Bo.
8. Retherford vs. Sorensen ((Zain is 5-0 against him; Can anyone keep from being bonused?) - Zain wins here. Probably a major.
9. Nickal vs. Martin (Nickal is 5-2 against him) - Nickal, although Martin has his number on the big stage, although as long as Nickal wrestles smart he wins easily. He's a lot better than Martin.
10. Keener. Will he finish in the top 7 to automatically qualify? - Keener will not qualify.
11. PSU vs. tOSU. Will Penn State dethrone Ohio State to reclaim the Big Ten title? - It will be close.
12. Non-PSU matches: (a) who will win 125? (b) Coon vs. Snyder (rematch) (c) dark horses? (d) potential upsets?

Spencer Lee vs Nick Suriano in the finals (if Nick is healthy). It's a toss up.
Coon over Snyder again. Coon is too big for Snyder. Usually that's not a problem for Snyder, but Coon can wrestle, too. He's not your typical heavy.

I know you were not asking me, but i know Nolf wrestled in practice vs Cael last week. He also participated in the warmup dodgeball. I don't know if he is 100% healthy, but to me those are good signs. Straight practice observations.

Fair enough question and I'm willing to answer that. I have heard this from someone who would know.

Does that somebody "who would know" have first hand knowledge of this, or does he also get his information from "someone who would know."

I'm not saying your information is not correct, but the further we get away from someone with first hand knowledge the less accurate it gets. We all know how the telephone game always plays out.

Chinese Whispers Game. Teachers had us play that many times back in grade school and the original message was always COMPLETELY different when you got to the end.

Can you tell us how much Cael weighs these days?

Guys, guys, geez louise, give me a break. I already said that I had no intention of revealing the source. Look, I was given reliable information from someone who would know. I got the impression that he had a fairly high confidence level that Jason probably wouldn't go at Bigs, but should be fine for nationals. Clearly something could change in the next week and Jason and/or the coaches may decide that they want him to have a little bit of work, I'm just passing along what I heard. I don't badger guys who pass along similar information as long as I have some reason to believe that they're respected posters and not wingnuts. For perspective, I was formerly Potterlion on this board (never terribly active here and not for many years) and I'm still Potterlion on FOS. Maybe that will make some of you less inclined to believe it. ;)

I recognize the name from FOS.

can you text one of us from a bunner phone the source?

Then throw away the phone and another will show up in the mail.

can't someone just ask Spyker? He'll know what is going on in the room! Just like last year!
