Big Ten stats through 4 games

How can Wisconsin give up four TD's but zero extra points?
Northwestern went for two both times yesterday (and failed both). Michigan finished with 14, but I guess they must’ve converted and failed one two point conversion each. Can’t remember as I pretty much tuned out after they went behind 35-0

Then Northwestern had the ball late, down 9. If they just kicked XPs, they would’ve only been down 7. Anyone who watched the game have an explanation for why they were going for 2 when it made no logical sense?

Michigan and Northwestern both scored 2 touchdowns and went for 2 both times

That's standard for Fitzgerald. Same with going for 4th down when most coaches wouldn't. His logic was to go for two as they're not looking to tie the game. They wanted to be able to win in regulation if they scored 3 times. I don't like the logic just as I hated it when Boise State used it but I think we're going to see more and more of it.

Clifford leads the Big Ten in total offense, 2nd in passing yards per game, 3rd in passing efficiency. Can’t even count the number of times I read “Penn State doesn’t have a quarterback” from OSU or Michigan fans this offseason.

PSU is #3 in the B1G, and probably the nation, giving up 1.9 yards per carry. Iowa is giving up 3.4, Michigan 3.8.

Gillikin really needs to step it up. He BOOMS the ball in pregame. We are 13th in avg punting yards at 39.5 and 12 th in net average at 37.2.

Besides the fact that we are at the top in a great many of those stats...anyone else notice that we run the ball more effectively than a 1 dimensional Wiscy team?

Those stats tell confirm what I've believed all year. We are a very good team on both sides of the ball and we are better than most are giving us credit for. I think we'd crush Wiscy head to head. IMO, it's us and OSU alone at the top.

Let’s slow down a little bit as the games get harder. Last two years we had high flying stats only to Be shut down completely by Michigan osu and MSU especially in the 4th quarter .

I’m concerned about the 4 back rotation and how we will do that in the bigger games.

I actually like the way we've managed the RBs so far. We have 4 talented backs who all bring something different to the table. We are in a very enviable position. We have 4 backs that have valuable game experience and who all could excel if given a larger role due to an injury.

At some point we’re likely going to ride two of them, probably Brown and Cain.

All TDs scored against them were followed by 2PT conversions. Northwestern had 2 TD this week and both were followed by failed 2pt conversions. Michigan also scored 2 TDs; one they successfully converted a 2pt conversion, the second TD was a failed attempt. No other team scored any TD against them.

I am just impressed with 6 straight shutout quarters. Against P5 competition. Albeit against ACC team and faux ACC Terps

Keep up that stifling defense and we will be reckoned with.

I don’t necessarily disagree, Jim, but were you not impressed with Devyn Ford’s tough runs Friday night? I thought he ran very well, and might be a bit faster and “shiftier “ than Cain. And I really like Cain, too, so I don’t mean to downplay his talent.
