Mr. Gambit is always enamored with female drummers, and he's long been a fan of our next birthday girl. She's been called The Queen of Percussion. By her early 20s, our birthday girl had played with George Duke, Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, Herbie Hancock, and Diana Ross. She was in the recording sessions for Prince's Purple Rain, and she performed as the opening act on Prince's Purple Rain tour. She's fronted her own band, and performed with many famous acts since then, and is still performing. She was born Sheila Escovedo, but is known to fair and her fans as Sheila E.
