Wonder how long before this gets him fired? lol
Didn’t learn a thing from Thom Brennaman!Double word bonus points for that word in WV
We'll see. I'm not a fan of the PC police but hard to imagine anyone survives that in this era.Not in West Virginia
Of course, Nike (whose logo is all over college uniforms) uses slave labor and ESPN is owned by Disney, who helps oppress millions of people in China and North Korea so they can make more money, but let's ignore that and instead fire someone that said one bad word. We'll see. Pat shouldn't have been fired or even reprimanded. People just overreact. If Pat Chambers got fired for what he said, Huggins should be put in jail by comparison.
Exactly…but if they’re firing coaches for saying what he said, Huggins needs to be gone.Pat shouldn't have been fired or even reprimanded. People just overreact.
Does two wrongs make a right though?Exactly…but if they’re firing coaches for saying what he said, Huggins needs to be gone.
Huggins may get off with a very sincere apology and a short suspension. But you REALLY did it. You can’t tell the truth like that……what the hell is wrong with you?Of course, Nike (whose logo is all over college uniforms) uses slave labor and ESPN is owned by Disney, who helps oppress millions of people in China and North Korea so they can make more money, but let's ignore that and instead fire someone that said one bad word.
The arc of moral history is long but it bends towards justice and 100 years from now, the people that let a slur slip out are going to fare a lot better than giant institutions doing real damage to large numbers of people.
I dont know, I think Huggins is a great guy. Went to a coaching clinic where he was one of the keynote speakers. Not only did he give great demonstrations, he gave coaches extra time for questions beyond the allotted time, sent each person copies of the presentation and other materials and then at the end of the night when many of us were having dinner/drinks at the bar, he paid for it all.Huggins has been a diet bag for a long time - but winning gets you a pass on just about everything.
Had a similar experience with him. He is a great guy.I dont know, I think Huggins is a great guy. Went to a coaching clinic where he was one of the keynote speakers. Pat didn't get fired for the noose analogy to Bolton. There were a lot of things that got him fired. Evidently his crazy outbursts weren't just directed at players and refs, but asst coaches, support staff and AD staff as well.If Pat Chambers got fired for what he said, Huggins should be put in jail by comparison.
This is definitely not his first misstep at WVU, far from it.He had a lot of problems at Cincy. Academics and alcohol.
When he went back to WVU he was given strict guidelines on his behavior. As far as I know he has behaved well. People love him and he raises money well. This is his first misstep. WVU has a tough decision.
I’m not so sure in this case it is wrong…the university has a certain image they want to project, any employee who doesn’t project that image or hurts it will likely get fired. I don’t care either way, but there’s a difference between saying something that is taken the wrong way and saying something that can only be taken one way.Does two wrongs make a right though?
I think he gets fired but just because other programs caved to public pressure doesn't mean they should continue to do that.
Right but another school firing a coach doesn't mean they all need to. Everything should be reviewed. They're unlikely to get a better coach so its not an easy decision.I’m not so sure in this case it is wrong…the university has a certain image they want to project, any employee who doesn’t project that image or hurts it will likely get fired. People have been fired for way, way less, so I guess it comes down to how the university wants to be perceived.Right but another school firing a coach doesn't mean they all need to. Everything should be reviewed. They're unlikely to get a better coach so its not an easy decision.
People have also done way worse and not been fired. I'm not disagreeing with your overall point. Just saying the only reason he could be termed is public pressure, outcry regarding negative comments about the LGBTQ+ community that likely would have zero impact on his job. Recruiting or coaching. Hell it might help him as a recruiter truthfully.People have been fired for way, way less, so I guess it comes down to how the university wants to be perceived.
Going against the philosophy and beliefs of his employer could also be a reason. He is a representative of the university. And he’s done some other stuff too, so this may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.People have also done way worse and not been fired. I'm not disagreeing with your overall point. And no one is surprised, or shouldn’t be if they know anything about West Virginia.No. Huggins wins.
