Another "special meeting" called for Friday in the middle of last night. It's allegedly to "address executive compensation" but the details and executives were not named.

Can you say BOHICA?

Shouldn't that luxury box be rented out on per game basis to the highest bidder in order to pay for the 119 failures and economic mischief the BOT has caused over their tenure? The fact that any trustee would show their face in that box is a disgrace. I am thinking that when questioned about the ..........privilege of sitting in that box their reply would ..........."more brie, and be quick about it"!

Is this for Sanderson and Gadowski extensions?
Neither require board approval, as far as I know - the only positions that would require a meeting like this would be the President, AD, head football and men's/women's basketball coaches, and maybe the Provost.

Might be a Pat Chambers or a Coquese Washington contract extension. I recall Barbour saying that only the football coach, the men's and women's basketball coaches and the athletic director's compensation are required to be a matter of public record, and that PSU had no intention of releasing details of other varsity coaches' contracts.

Could also be something like the provost's or the med school dean's new contract.

Perhaps it's an opportunity to clarify Tim Bream's job description?

Bream's job/retention/severance would be my guess. He was hired by the university, not by the head football coach, and as such isn't a part of the football team. With all the controversy surrounding the Beta Theta Pi house I suspect the cowards on the BoT are looking to cut ties lest they become embroiled in controversy or accused of anything unsavory.

Where were these self serving farts when the Alumni BoT called a "special meeting"?

False alarm. Apparently the meeting on Friday is an Executive Session of the Compensation Committee only and not the full board. They will review compensation for Tier l level employees (Administration).

Stay tuned...

My view is that comp should be frozen at this level unless and until we develop a manageable plan to hold the line in in-state tuition.

All you PSU employees on this board can comment to individual employees. In general - PSU has a $4Bn + annual operating budget. Someone has to run the place and they need to be compensated for their efforts.

If you knew what was actually transpiring, you would recognize the ironies in your statement.
When you are running a business where your administrative clerks are making more than your educators and researchers, and your administrative budgets and headcounts are doubling - while your education and research expenditures are flat or decreasing - can you still even pretend that the "business" is a University?
If the justification for the obscene salaries for administrative personnel is "We have so much money coming in from students who think they are paying for an education, and we have to spend it somewhere", that is a very disturbing contention.
In the nomenclature that might be understood by posters on a sports message board:
While the compensation of the Penn State Head Football Coach has, roughly, doubled over the last 10 years (and some people might be concerned about that), and the head count of Football Staff personnel has done the same, that is less than a drop in the bucket relative to the growth of highly-compensated administrative positions throughout the University at large.
As opposed to the position of Head Football Coach, most of those administrative positions, if unfilled, no one would even know they were gone. Certainly there would be absolutely no effect on the Educational and Research missions of the University.

Anyway, this really isn't the forum for such a discussion.
Very few here would be interested in a topic that is less than tangential to Penn State sports, and even fewer would be literate and knowledgeable as to the situation that exists.

Dude, you are so full of yourself and bullshit it is amazing. Why don't you grind your axe elsewhere. Did PSU refuse to meet your needs or hire you?
