My final post on this subject for those who don't yet seem to understand

1. University lawyers did not provide ANY information to the BOT when they asked for approval of settlements.

2. Alumni Trustees begged for information and were denied.

3. Because of this, Alumni Trustees voted no on the last set of settlements.

All of us paying attention know this.

Unfortunately, 99% of the free world does not.........because - aside from one moment when we used our voices, April 9th 2015 (item "3" on your list, which - you may agree - was our BEST DAY ever) - no one said a word.

And even after otherwise sitting mutely for 4 freaking years......
Last week - we had a gold-foil-wrapped-gift-from-Heaven dropped into our laps......and we shit the bed......again.

THAT ain't the fault of the "Media"
THAT ain't the fault of the "Lawyers"
THAT ain't even the fault of the "Scoundrels"

THAT ain't no one's fault but ours

And we STILL won't stop crapping the bed

We need to move our car off of the GD train tracks - - -and stop bitching about the freight train

Fiduciary Responsibility is a funny thing.....and you don't get to abdicate that responsibility by claiming that:
"We are just a minority, and we'll get voted down anyway....those big meanies push us around"

Thank God someone has some courage and common sense.

The more amazing thing is that some people had no shame, no remorse, no sense of right and wrong. These are true sociopaths we are talking about here. And the most remarkable thing is that the sheep nobodies on the BOT, who were appointed but were not powerful and likely not getting as rich off the schemes anyhow, still went along with the criminals all of the time. It's just mind-boggling.

It's almost as though that in order to be placed on the BOT as an appointed nobody, you had to be vetted in advance to fill the role of non-question asking sheep, who merely does as they are told every single time, no matter what.

That is...each accepted a leadership role in return for agreeing to be a follower.

Ok.. Experts... Anthony , Pennoyer.. Anyone...instead of all of us getting so kissed at the failure of some of these other BOT ass clowns... What else can WE as Alumni do to help?

Can anyone give real advice on what course of action can be taken by a PSU Alumni who does not sit on the board... I give money but should I stop? Can I write letters? What can I do?

You need to know that BY DESIGN no one is allowed to see how the BOT really works. There is no doubt in my mind that BASED ON WHAT IS KNOWN NOW, our BOT has had significant corruption in its operations for more than 20 years. I believe that the real issues which drove the OGBOT "inaction" are the result of YEARS of a minority of "privileged" BOT members acting ONLY for their own benefit. This includes receiving continuous significant "political benefits" from various PA government officials. These benefits do not come without a price....remember, the "YOU OWE ME" gotcha. Interesting fact, the Penn State deception dies in 2011 if the OGBOT did not participate HEAVILY in promoting and (by inaction) validating the manufactured "PSU criminality by a Football Cover-up" story.

This does not mean that being a BOT member makes you part of the cartel of those who abuse the PSU BOT position. We need to separate out anger from the BOT generally and focus on those who worked consistently to ENGINEERED the negative outcome that the public has been made to believe. These individuals are well known by now.

At the very least, they have no apparent fear that State or Federal regulators will step in and review their actions. What does that say?

That says, they believed that they had the regulators taken care of in advance. They had nothing to fear.

And if they had left Joe out of this one, they'd have nothing to fear this time, either. Surma really ****ed them.

Do what we are supposed to do in a democratic society - tell your elected reps what you want.....and if they don't listen, elect someone who will.

I think its getting to the point of filing a class action lawsuit or something of the sorts

Agreed, but it's more efficient to pursue that goal through legislative than judicial means.
Probably debatable on a "situation by situation" basis, some issues may lend themselves more efficiently to one or the other (The "Freeh Stuff" being an example of the better route being through the legal channel)....though I would agree with your stance wrt the legislative route on most of the "big issues", including this one

Either way, we need to stop crapping the bed.

Our elected reps are on the right side and you are a jerk for suggesting otherwise.
Firstly, you are misinterpreting my post (I believe) which may be the fault of me not being clear enough. I assume you are interpreting my statement as being quite "global".

The "right side" I am speaking of here - specifically - is speaking out against situations of governance failures, and speaking up for measures of fiduciary responsibility.

On that count.....there is no way on God's green Earth that we have been consistently on the "right side"

[Note: I may very well be a jerk.....just not in this instance :) ]

You seem to have a greater aversion to blackmail and strong-arming than I do.:)

Ben was one of the very first to "cry wolf".....but none of us (practically) cared enough to listen

I would be interested to read an updated "2nd Edition" of this missive to see what, if anything, has changed. That link is definitely worth a re-read. Long time since I first read it.

In reading it just now I was reminded of the Aardsma case in 1969 (Novak says all these changes came about in 1970): I read author David DeKok's book Murder in the Stacks where he implies that PSU moved heaven and hell to try to avoid bad publicity about the murder back in the fall of '69 and also strongly implied that the administration was quite cold to the Aardsma family and offered little in the way of support or sympathy. One wonders if these changes came about in part due to that murder. Just something I thought of and tried to place events in some sort of chronology. It's also an interesting coincidence that the theory proffered by the author was that Betsy Aardsma was murdered by a pedophile from Lancaster.
