BOTTOMLESS PITT... link to article in Roar Lions Roar

From the article:

"Ah, yes, the good old "42-39" signifying Pitt's victory over Penn State that propelled them to a Pinstripe Bowl loss vs. Northwestern to cap off their 2016 season."

Pretty amazing how those guys get locked in on numbers. They really have nothing to feel good about, so they have to chant "42-39" or "13-9" whenever they masturbate in order to get themselves off.

And yeah, that 13-9 is still a really big deal to them. Just like they get erect when they think they cost us a playoff spot, they also get erect when they think about having wrecked WVU's season. All they have to feel good about is wrecking other teams' seasons, because all of their seasons are pretty much wrecked before they even start.

Granted, when they get erect, it's barely noticeable.

Even if you believe that the loss to pitt cost Penn State a playoff berth in 2016 (I don't), it demonstrates a clear lack of respect for pitt. pitt athletic supporters thus have to come to the realization that they are, at best, nothing more than a spoiler.

Give them some credit, board. I am sure their going to play their little hearts out this year too and create memories.

The Pitt game this year will be a noon kickoff since the Pirates play at home that night. That makes it clear where Pitt ranks in the Pittsburgh landscape. They'd obviously love to play the game later in the day but when you're at the bottom of the totem pole you take whatever go can get.

Keep in mind 13-9 and 42-39 are the greatest moments in recent Pitt history and they are a combined 13-12 during those seasons. Now you know why they are miserable and obsess about everything Penn State

They barely beat PSU because PSU hands them the game, and it's the greatest moment in Pitt history. PSU dominates them the next year and it's barely a blip on the radar.

And when PSU beats them the next two years then stops playing them, there will be trolls on this board ten years from the last game posting 42-39. Even if we did play them every year and beat them 100 times in a row, they would be posting that score. Hell, someone may write a book about it twenty years from now.

And this is exactly why it's not a rivalry and why we have nothing to gain but everything to lose by playing them. Can't convince the oldtimers around here of that though. They're still popping viagara to keep that hardon raging for playing pitt and thinking they're our rival - hoping in some way to relive the excitement that surrounded the game in the middle of the last century.

Maybe this quote from Monty Python can help explain the current state of the psu - pitt rivalry.

'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker!

'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig!
'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!

It will be the only game this fall where Pitt football will have more people in the stands than the Pirates will...

Pitt recruiting was pretty decent this year -
Zubovic is a beast-

Blake Zubovic OL 6’5” 310 Belle, Vernon, PA (Belle Vernon)

Rivals // ESPN // 247 // Hudl // Commitment Story

Next Best Offers - Penn State, Michigan State, Virginia Tech

Blake Zubovic was one of the best linemen in the state of Pennsylvania this past season. He was a nice recruiting win for Pat Narduzzi at the time. Pitt has manufactured some pretty impressive offensive lines in recent seasons behind the strength of local players. Zubovic has all the tools and talent to follow in those some footsteps.

And Pitt fans will claim its 70-30 Pitt fans...which if true is a pretty sad commentary on their program because the next home game will be back to 20,000 people.

Please take this opportunity to remember that there was no spike in 2016 pitt football season ticket sales due to Penn State.

But the ACME Yellow Seat Co. will be happy, knowing that all those yellow seats will be nice, shiny, and empty!

He is such a beast. Rivals rates him as 36th (5.7) at his position. Espn rates him as 29th at his position. 247 rates him as 39th at his position and 492 in the country. He is a 3 star across the board. I think we just have to take our chances with the "limited" players we picked up this year. Asiedu 4 star.5.9 Walker 4 star 6.0, Scruggs 4 star 5.8 and Effner 3 star 5.7

Maybe Pitt should sell advertising space on the back of the seats...they could at least make some money during their home games.

They could put the advertising on the front of the seats cause no one sits in the seats and the advertising would be easier to see from field level.

That’s what I meant...the seat backs facing the field.

Pitt’s recruiting finished

Rivals 36th
247. 46th
Espn. Not in the top 50

Is that pretty decent? I guess it is for you if you are using Blake Zubovic as your reference point

In fairness to Pitt i dont think thats a real magazine. Just a promotional magazine for Pitt fans, So they can put whatever they want on the cover. Most Pitt fans probably would never buy it without that tiny reference to Penn State on the cover.

I always just say 48-14, Against a #1 Pitt team in 1981. We spotted them the first 14, then ran off 48. Of course I was at he 1968 game when they had a Pitt Stadium (Attendance was as it is today) 65-9. They let the clock run during the 4th quarter. Great rivalry!

Jake Kradel is another beast OG Pitt has recruited for 2018.
Kradel's profile rose after an early-January trip to San Antonio for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl national combine, an invitational event for high school juniors.

“When I had about five offers, I thought: ‘I'm going to try to commit by the end of April or early May,' ” Kradel said. “But now, I want to get a feel for all of these schools. I'm still thinking mid-May, maybe early summer. I want to do it before the season.”

Kradel was a two-way tackle last season for Butler and earned all-conference honors on defense. He held his own in a lineman-heavy Class 6A conference with two Notre Dame recruits (Central Catholic senior Kurt Hinish and North Allegheny senior Josh Lugg) and a Penn State recruit (Central Catholic senior C.J. Thorpe).

“He looked at it as a challenge, and he was pretty successful every game,” Butler coach Rob Densmore said. “He's right up there with those guys. … When the college coaches are looking, they want to see you going against the best of the best.”

Kradel will switch this season to an interior spot on the offensive line, either at guard or center. Colleges project him on the interior, so he wants to learn those positions now.

Someone said it best "Pitt stinks and they don't go to bowl games"

Who was that? A recruit years back? From the mouth of babes..

IIRC, it was Nick Marmo, who unfortunately didn't amount to much at PSU...

I would like to see PSU fans stay home for the Pitt game, not buy a single ticket. Let Pitt try to fill the mustard bowl with its own fans.

That would be great but the geniuses at Pitt would then say their empty stadium is proof of how apathetic our fans are. The irony wold be lost on them. Their AD made a point of saying PSU returned some tickets for the 2016 game as if we were unable to sell our allotment. The reality was we returned less than 100 complimentary tickets which weren't going to be used. From what I understand schools send their visiting opponent a small number of comp tickets for their VIPs. We didn't use them all and returned them since they were free in the first place. It's the fair thing to do. Apparently Pitt would sell comp tickets just to make a few extra bucks.

Surprising Dambly didn't scarf them all up and sell them himself.

These comp tickets are expected to be returned if not used. NCAA rules forbid resale. It was a low class move to suggest we couldn’t sell our allotment of tickets, but that’s Bottomless Pitt.
