Bowers on crutches again???

But if it was something that he knew had to be taken care of, maybe getting it over with and getting ready for Spring practice is a better plan than playing in the bowl game and having surgery later.

Or it could just be a high ankle sprain.....

Either way, hope he is ready for Spring practice.... Bowers is our starting TE for 2018 if he is ready to go.

Looks like from photos that Menet was in street clothes. Franklin said earlier this year that nagging injuries have impeded MM’s development

And maybe not....or maybe yes and no or maybe no and yes. Time will tell.

I am wondering if Culpepper might play TE for us. His highlights there are pretty impressive. He is probably at the upper size limit for TE as a true freshman, though.

When he committed, I wrote as much after watching his highlight video. He would be a hell of a blocker, and he is athletic enough to get the ball if thrown to him.

I believe CJF has been quoted as Culpepper going to DT....

Bowers (hopefully), Holland, Dalton, Kuntz, and Freirmuth at TE. But as we all know it's not a great situation when one of the main candidates always seems to be injured (Bowers), one looks good in B/W game and then gets PT to start season but becomes MIA with not explanation (Holland), and another in his second year can't crack the depth chart (Dalton), and the other 2 are true freshmen...... So it would seem just about anything is possible in 2018.

we have not really had a blocking TE for a while, and Bowers looked the part. alot to ask of the remaining guys. some of them may bring alot to the passing game though. if they dont pan out, we may see more all WR formations.

Or play an athletic OLinemen like Menet at TE.... especially in the red zone.

II feel for Bowers, hope his injury is not serious, as a Pittsburgh area guy, I too would like to see a Pittsburgh area guy contribute at PSU and succeed big time. But I will not speculate with a bunch of maybes. Whatever the case may be, I want PSU to succeed first and foremost and for no PSU player to suffer injurious harm ever, no matter how unrealistic that second wish may be. I look forward to seeing how the players on the team adapt and hope the best for Bowers.... without a host of maybes.

Bowers can play, but is always hurt. He had a knee problem in HS and missed significant time. I don't think we can count on him for 2018, just consider whatever he gives you a bonus.

What does it mean to "count on" him? PSU pretty much has the 2018 roster set, and it has only so many TE's. CJF will go with the players that are ready to play and form a depth chart. Unless Bowers has been already ruled out or he is not healthy next August, his combination of size and experience will put him in the competition.

One other name I wil throw out at TE as a 2018 option is Colin Castagna. He hardly played at DE this season, and with the depth we are building there, probably won’t have much of a chance next season.
Maybe this has been, or is being tried.
