Brandon sure does have the PS style

I was just going to post a subject on Brandon and you beat me to it.

I will be seeing him wrestle tonight again for the 3rd time this year (before making a long trek to Erie in the middle of the night, so I will be unable to see him for the 4th time tomorrow). He has been very impressive the first two times I watched him, much more so than in previous years.

He has the possibility of facing two top opponents over the next two days in Doug Zapf and Shane Hanson-Ashworth.

His stature looks like he may be a career 125, although you never know. He doesn't get much pub in our incoming recruiting class - probably as a walk-on or a small stipend - but he just may be underrated in terms of being able to contribute to the lineup. Kind of early to project that, but as a said above, it looks like he is really turning it on. I will be following him closely for the rest of the season.

I haven't missed a SE Regional meet since Chris Kwortnik won his 1st of 4 for North Penn High School and
there's nothing like possibly meeting a returning state champ in Zapt at the regionals. Looking forward to it...

Did you used to come to the Manheim Holiday tournament when North Penn used to come?

I was also in the stands for that one. It was at my HS (I had graduated but my brother was still in HS). Remember seeing him come out on the mat and thinking I had never seen a freshman like him.

When I met Willie in Austin, the 2 wrestlers I mentioned really following in high school were Jack Cuvo and Kwortnik. Kwortnik was an animal

No, I only made dual meets and the District 1 and state meets. I have slowed down in the past couple years due to my health, but wrestling is still the number
one sport for me...

You are absolutely right, even as a freshman, he was a man among boys. I was really surprised he didn't AA at NC State
Good Memories....

awesome to hear, my parents hosted some North Penn wrestlers when I was probably in like 6th grade for that tournament. The one kid took 2nd at states that year or the next and his name escapes me. This would have been in like 1990 give or take

He AA'd 3 times at NC State. You were probably surprised (like me) that he didn't win a NC. He got a little derailed there early with an off the mat incident.

I'm not sure anyone in the Meredith gene pool weighs as high as 125. ;)

You are right, what I meant was, I was sure he would be a NCAA champ. Word was in his home town, that he let the college party scene get the best of him. Still, the most dominant HS wrestler, I have ever seen.

But why would he come to PSU, when he could make a far better financial decision attending a school like Bloomsburg?

I've been spending too much time on the HR obviously;)
I am hearing that recruits get paid a hefty amount of Bitcoins from the slush fund for coming to PSU. Don't tell HR! ;) Bitcoins are totally UNTRACEABLE!! It's brilliant!

I remember watching Kwortnik and Scott Henry wrestle each other in a couple of matches that were backyard brawls. Both were strong and physical. Scott got him the first time at States in the opening round (Kwortniks only loss). And Kwortnik got Scott the next year at the Manheim Holiday Tournament and then again a couple of weeks later in a dual meet. Then in the post season they wrestled different weights and both won a State Title.

Kwortnik was a savage. If you told me North Penn had an ambulance on retainer, I'd believe it.

The guy who surprisingly didn't place at NC State was probably Tom Best.

yep .... Henry dropped as he had no shot at beating CK again

Chris also battled knee injuries all through college. Just saw him a few weeks ago at a youth wrestling meet. His son (around 9 years old I think) wrestles for the NP youth program

and agree with the thoughts here, he was (along with Kolat) the most dominant HS wrestler i have ever seen

There was this one kid from Jefferson Morgan that was pretty good.

Tough to judge from one match against a kid who isn't on his tier but he looks pretty advanced and fluid, looking for turns right out of the takedown. Don't think I saw him do the same thing twice in that match, like he wanted to show you his whole resume.
