Speaking to reporters this morning on a conference call, senior-to-be Brian Gaia, who is now practicing "exclusively" at center, pointed out a few linemen who have impressed him so far in spring practice. Two of them are on the offensive side of the ball, while the third is becoming a familiar name on the defensive side.
"I think as a unit we've all had a real good season," Gaia said of Penn State's offensive line. "But Noah Beh has had a good spring (at right tackle), getting good reps against Evan Schwan and Garrett Sickels and all those guys, and he's doing pretty well. Ryan Bates is having a good spring (at guard). I don't want to single out an any particular person, really, but I think as a unit everyone has made big strides in our game and (we're) looking forward to showing everyone in the spring game."
Across the line of scrimmage, a redshirt freshman who has earned praise from multiple sources this spring has also required Gaia's attention during practice.
"I think Kevin Givens (at defensive tackle) is having a great spring right now," he said "I know Coach Franklin said that, but that guy just works his butt off everyday. He just comes out ready to compete. He's a big strong kid and he's fast, so I think he's going to be a good player."
