According to informed sources close to the situation, Urby and Jimmah are the front-runners for the Cleveland and Indianapolis jobs.
Both front offices are expected to announce their new coaching hires in the next several days.

Financial implications - including the buyouts of their existing contracts at OSU and UMich - are not expected to be a stumbling block.

Neither coach could be reached for comment......those close to the situation report that the interviewing process is currently underway.

I don't picture Urbie in the Pro's, but $8 million over 6 years might do it. I could see someone making a run at Saban though.

I can see JH going before UM. JH cant really like recruiting. UM is a college coach, probably meet the same fate all the other college coaches going to the pros meet (except maybe JJ, but the game was different then, no FA)

Insider on NBC Sports last night said watch for Saban to Indy. Irsay has been after Saban since 98.

I know what Saban is pulling down at Alabama but $10m per year might grab his attention for an NFL gig...just thinking out loud..

Urban is a college coach, only job he leaves tOSU for is ND

Harbaugh can be bought, don't expect him to be at Michigan for long

I think it unlikely either leaves, but sure is fun to think about......not quite as fun as thinking about winning the powerball this week, but guess the odds of them leaving, while low, are better than $400M coming my way.....

Browns are going to try and hire Kelly, who, the local talk shows say, has already called the 49ers and is salivating at getting Kapernek's career restarted. But have the 49ers had their fill over over inflated heads for head coaches? Browns love him but already said that the HC will have input but not control over personnel.

They are also are interviewing Marone (not sure why) and the OC of the Bears (Gase).

Harbaugh will go back to NFL eventually but hard to imagine him leaving his college after one year. That would really screw Michigan.

JH made a comment on Twitter after hearing that Tomsula was fired: "you reap what you sew" apparently referring to individuals close to him in the 49ers organization who conspired behind his back to get him fired.

Yep...but Tomsula wasn't his only problem...he wore out his welcome in San Fran and not too many people wanted him to stay. He's a great coach but a loose cannon. it will be interesting to see how things go at UM when times get tough.

"SEW"? He actually wrote that? If "sew", maybe Jimmah is one of the guys he spoke about, when he talked of UMich being a place for football players to attend without getting an education. :)

Many of you wrote to tell us about new Standford coach Jim Harbaugh's slap at his alma mater, Michigan, during a recent interview:

College football needs Stanford. We’re looking not for student athletes but scholar-athletes. No other school can carry this banner. The Ivy League schools don’t have enough weight [because of their low athletic level]. Other schools which have good academic reputations have ways to get borderline athletes in and keep them in.”

“Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,” he said, “but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them.”

Giants looking for a new coach too - Coughlin just stepped down....

Saban & Urban will never go to the NFL. Harbaugh will go back eventually but not for awhile...maybe 3-5 years from now.

Best college bets are Mora or Sumlin.

I agree on Urban....watching the bowl game the announcers made a point of saying how tired and worn out he was....Imagine a 16 game schedule with 4 pre-season games and some potential playoff games. He's a hero in Columbus for as long as he lives....not sure why anyone would sign up for the typical couple of year job in the NFL. Think chip kelly is happy with his move today?

LOL......post was flowing nicely, until the last word of your post:

th

Sumlin is more likely to end up at Franklin Roosevelt Junior High, than he is in the NFL.

Colts & Giants really want Harbaugh,Mich fans don't want to hear it, but it's what it is,it just depends on the amount of control he would have in the organization. Money is not an object for either team it's about winning in the NFL.Harbaugh would want more control than he did at SF.
Urban would fail in the NFL and Saban tried it once, don't really know why Nick packed it in there.

I have literally seen ZERO sources say either one of those things.

The Giants don't give control to anyone. They have a job description and it never varies. I don't know what the situation is at Indy.

Pretty close. Except for the "sew" part. And I inferred from Hairball's tweet that he believes Tomsula was one of those who conspired behind his (Hairball's) back. Even if that is true, Hairball showed a lack of class in putting out this tweet.

Todd Haley will get a Head Coching Job, probably Miami
Mike Munchak to Indy is very possible

Someone just mentioned David Shaw is another college coach that will get attention. SF is a possibility for him.

There is no way Urban leaves for the Browns job. The Browns organization is the most God awful in the NFL. The Steelers are lucky they have the Browns twice a year. 2-0 without much effort.
