Now that the clowns have lied their way through another debate with their unanimous misinformation on SS it is instructive to see what the American Society of Actuaries say.
(You know, people who use facts, math and logic instead of myths, ignorance and lies, and want to preserve the program not secretly want to kill it.)

"While Social Security isn’t in danger of collapse, changes will need to be made to pay full retiree benefits after 2034. Everyone thinks it’s easy to solve Social Security’s financial problems, but can you? Play the game to explore options for Social Security reform and how changes will affect younger workers, retirees, and the program's long-term health."

Spoiler: Although raising the retirement age was posited as the only possible solution, it is much less effective than simply eliminating or reducing the threshold on SS earnings subject to the payroll tax. SS is a problem but not as big as repubs like to make it out to be so they can kill it.
(Granted, Medicare is a much more serious problem, as is health care in general, and requires a systemic rather than a piecemeal approach, but don't expect pols of any stripe to take that one on in an election year when even a program like ACA that is quite moderate compared to the rest of the civilized world is still controversial.)
