Watching condensed game and Boise State is no joke. While I realize that Oregon was struggling a bit to start season, BSU had more totals yards (Jeanty for 192), more first downs, won turnover battle and sack battle. Oregon relied on 87 yrd punt return TD and 97 yd KO return TD to win otherwise they lose by double digits potentially. Kid dropped the KO return before goal line too but luckily another Oregon player picked it up.

Let's not kids ourselves. This will be a toe to toe battle. Jeanty is about as good as you will ever see at RB. Kid is fast, powerful and compact. You can't arm tackle him. Reminds me of Ladainian Tomlinson as he can score any time touching it. We have not been great tacklers this year so a big concern. The QB is serviceable. Obviously we have to shut down running game or at least limit big plays. Defense looks physical all around. Allar will need to be ready. We will need to pass to open up run. Boise will not shoot themselves in the foot. This is well coached, talented team even if SoS is not respected.

Oregon also almost lost to Idaho week 1--they're a different team now
Gabriel was 18/21 in that game. Madsen was well under 50%
James ran over Boise--Jeanty's numbers are inflated with a 70 yard run which you didn't include in the big play break down
Boise struggled with UNLV, Nevada, Wyoming and even Ga Southern put up nearly 50 against them
Boise is a great G5/7 team but they're not a match for us--it's the same as SMU and Jennings

Everyone is good at this level. While Boise played a pretty good game, in the quarter, the possessions went like this (O up 27-20 at the time)

  • Oregon Fumble at the Boise 35
  • Boise TD on a Jeanty 70-yard TD Run
  • Oregon Fumlbe at own 22
  • Boise TD
Jeanty had 192 yards rushing (70 on that one play) and the QB Madsen had 148 yards passing. Oregon had 9 penalties for 74 yards and two turnovers to Boise's zero turnovers.

Boise is a good team but PSU should win if we play our A game.

We struggled with BGSU and could have lost easily. Same with bad USC team. You can only judge by common opponent and they played Ducks closer than we did AT OREGON. We never led in that game. BSU took 4th qtr lead on tough Jeanty run at 12:07 mark . Jeanty''s 70 yard run inflated? Seriously you are delusional. He cut through then ran past the Ducks defense. That is at 11m mark. Look at his run at 5:31.

This will be a dogfight unless BSU QB pulls a Jennings early.

In week 2 when Oregon was a mess
And, no, that's not the only way to compare it
I watched much of the game--Jeanty was largely held in check by a weak Oregon run defense.
I don't know how that's delusional. Jeanty's a good back--we're also by far the best run defense he's playing this year
Not a dog fight--you realize we're 10.5 point favorites right?

Oregon had back to back turnovers before the Jenty 70 yard run and was about to put the game away. Oregon also had 70 yards in penalties.

Regardless, Here is Boise's schedule this year:

  • Ga Southern (8-5)
  • Oregon (12-0)
  • Portland State (3-8)
  • Washington State (8-4)
  • Utah State (4-8)
  • Hawaii (5-7)
  • UNLV (11-3)
  • San Diego State (3-9)
  • Nevada (3-10)
  • SJSU (7-5)
  • Wyoming (3-9)
  • Oregon State (5-7)
  • UNLV again (11-3)
Allar is a far better QB and our receiving corp, as a whole, is much better. Jeanty is fantastic but he carried the ball 344 times last year for just under 2,500 yards. The next RB carried the ball 44 times. For PSU, our two-head RB duo ran the ball 329 times for 1820 yards. And, again, this was against B1G defenses. We played Illinois, USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Washington, and Minnesota. If you take Oregon out of the mix, every single one of those teams is better than anyone Boise has played this year.

Take 70 yard run away and 24/122 yards is held in check? That is over 5 yards a carry.

Oregon O got only 21 points all day until last sec FG. The TOs were legit. One was a great helmet on ball play. Oregon had two very lucky special teams TDs. They struggled and should have lost.

In week 2...they were still getting comfortable yet Dillon was 18/21...I dont understand why people feel its necessary to hype up our opponents. First SMU now Boise. We're far better than both.

Everybody agrees that Boise had a very weak schedule. That doesn't mean they'll be a pushover. Their play against Oregon shows what they're capable of.

1) SMU was better than the score indicated. PSU really struggled offensively but SMU offense wore down by the middle of 2nd half. Yeah PSU was superior at the LOS and was going to win that game, but it could have been a lot closer obviously.

2) Allar has to throw the ball better to beat any good team. Never would have expected this but Allar's best plays were with his feet. I'm glad to see him running well and scrambling to extend plays. But he needs to play a lot better in the pocket and hot hold the ball so long. Some plays, there were people open but Allar was waiting for something bigger to open up. Allar is not throwing the ball consistently at this point, and his lack of confidence means he's not attempting certain throws. He needs to get with coach K and figure out some quick, simple passes that he can release in 1.5 seconds until PSU's pass protection gets figured out. You just can't be deep into a playoff with an offense that isn't really ready to play at the start of a game.

Hits happen all the time. Two turnovers to none and 70 yarns in penalties.

Our game, we gave up a pick six essentially and were down 14 before we stabilized.

Plus ours was a championship game and theirs was a game they clearly took for granted

You never disappoint Lando.

Minnesota was certainly a match for us. So was USC. But there's no way Boise will be a match for us.
Minnesota was a road game in which it didn't matter it we won. USC is infinitely more talented than Boise and hadn't quit yet...we go their beat game

We are 10.5 point favorites. Accept that and the expectations that come with it.

We almost lost to Minn. We beat BYU 31-10. How many RBscever run 150+ yarrsvaga8nst our defense. Our RBs, defense, OL and QB are peaking at the best time.

Yeah here we go again. Chicken Littles bitching about the team after they laid a beat down on their opponent yesterday. I didn’t realize Boise State was the second coming of the Kansas City Chiefs. Did it ever occur to you that Penn State is a bigger favorite over Boise than they were against SMU for a reason?

Well said.

Fans can afford to take the oh-this-will-be-easy attitude. Players and coaches cannot. You have to go in respecting your opponent and expecting a challenge. Anything else is the stuff of upsets.

Jeanty is the real deal. Like all great backs, you can stop him once...twice...seven times...and then: wham, he breaks one big.

Boise State is a good team. I expect a competitive game.

PSU needs to get the offense going early so if/when Jeanty breaks one PSU is still winning 17-7.....

Yep Boise outgaine Oregon when Oregon was struggling to start the season. PSU outgained Oregon when Oregon was firing on all cylinders.
