Not a fan of the way Illinois is doing the tri-meet today. They have two mats both on streams (good) but they started one mat at 125 (Barnett of Wisconsin vs. Cardini of Illinois) and the other at 165 (Smith of OSU and Braunagel of Illinois). So Illinois is essentially competing in two dual meets at once. So Braunagel and Cardini will have about an hour before they wrestle the other schools. I am sure this has something to do with extra matches getting wrestled which I like but I am not a fan of this format. You're missing half your dual if you are an Illinois fan trying to watch on an App.

Covid causes you to make some sacrifices, that said an hour break is not a big deal at all - normally you start your season wrestling tournaments where you end up wrestling just as often, often 3-4 times in a day.

Breaking up the mats would be annoying if you were using an app I admit, but for people using a computer you can stream both.

Apparently they have a lower weight and upper weight mat. Ohio State lower weights starting against either Illinois or Wisconsin now. So the duals are going to be done in about 3 hours and I guess they will have an extra matches after all the action.

D'Emilio (to a backup I believe) and Hoffman have costly losses for OSU so I am sure they are not settled as the starters. Orndorff also lost to Luffman at HWT which was unexpected for me.

Pucino for IL is the backup but he's a REALLY solid freshman. Hit a Nolf-esque Winn Dixie late in the 3rd for the win. Luffman is a solid but is quite undersized for a heavy, had some growing pains last year but I think another year of dealing with these larger guys has helped him tremendously.

Luffman is underrated. Should've shirted last year and probably wouldve at a lot of other schools.

He is, still blows my mind Mizzou isn't putting him at his natural 157. Jacques is a totally solid guy but this kid is special and seems like the better chance to place higher. Smith knows what he's doing though...
