The "guys" are at Rutgers today. They noted RU had been to 9 bowls in the past 10 years which is impressive, but felt their key issues this year will be along the DL ( DL is a bit light but with good depth to rotate enough players to keep them fresh) against the run and in finding a QB who can minimize TO's. They felt the team had a real edge to them and were pumped. A DE, and WR Caroo could play for anybody and will lead the team.
Looks to me like RU will come in for Game 3 really pumped, ready to play, and will play their hearts out. The game could get ugly as emotions boil over. This IS a rivalry - especially for them - and if we arent sharp it could be tough game. To win, we will need to establish a running game to control the ball and give Hack time to throw downfield. Also, our D will need to make some key take-aways to cement the game. How the turnovers break out will determine how close the game will end up being.
Alss, for the Surprise Team in the East, Mason picked PSU, while the public picked Rutgers with us in 2nd place. Mason sounded very confident, and I sensed a real gap between Mason and the others regarding the PSU talent, coaching, and likely OL performance. Obviously OL performance is the key/sticking point.
As we are preseason rated just off the Top 25 in most polls, we are in a comfortable, motivating position as the underdog.
