One of the most bizarre endings I have seen. Ole Miss with no timeouts clearly got in the endzone on 3rd down, but ref spotted them down at the 1 with: 10 seconds left and had to hurry another playa nd got stuffed. The 3rd down play should have been reviewed.

He was not clearly in.

At least it should've been reviewed. Even if ruled down at the one, then Ole Miss would have been organized on 4th down.

That angle proves nothing, needed to be reviewed.

Here is the video for others to see.

Freeze frame showed he clearly was in the end zone when he caught the ball. At that point the play is dead.

At worst as stated above the play should have been called a TD to review. PAC 12 officials helped their team.

Freeze frame doesn't prove anything, angle is way off the line. So the refs are to purposely call it wrong so it can be reviewed?

yeah that is one of the dumber things to come out of replay....people expect refs to make a bad call just in case because they want review to catch it

It needed to be stopped and reviewed no matter what. Just shitty work by the refs and replay official. Meaningless apology from the conference about their officials incoming at 1pm tomorrow before the nfl games.

Looks to me that receiver was in the end zone but the ball never crossed the plane. Ref made the right call from that view.

He refuses to see that possibility, unless there was a definitive/conclusive view down the line it wouldn't have been over-turned anyway.

You’re a hard head and stupid. I showed you two angles that clearly showed he was in. The ball doesn’t have to be over the line idiot. It has the hit the line which it did.

The key learning/observation after watching a bunch of OOC games is that there has been some very biased officiating when the visiting teams are allowed to bring their conference-affiliated crews.

It’s time to specify independent officiating crews when the AD’s are haggling over these OOC contracts

Name calling now, I know now I'm on the right side of this. There is nothing clear about what you provided, nothing that could be used to over-turn. I know the rules, your pics don't show it, it's just your opinion that the ball touched the line.

As others noted, that angle shows nothing conclusive. In fact, it shows more likely than not the ball was NOT in the end zone. Look at the distance from his toe to the goal line. It's about the same distance from his toe to his knee. His knee therefore appears to be directly over the goal line. The ball appears to be beyond the knee which means the ball is outside the end zone.

I believe that the ref who made the call on this play was the line judge. He had a pretty good angle (i.e., looking right down the goal line) from which to make his call. Ole Miss burned through their time outs in rallying. Who is to blame for them not having one left to use?

Bottom line: Cal is 4-0 and ranked. I’ll take that.

I did not watch the game but I watched the replays. I agree with those who say the play should have been reviewed. I disagree that the replays conclusively prove he was in. Since the call on the field was no TD I think that call stands. No TD.

Nobody said it has to be over the line. It has to break the plane, which you can’t tell definitively from the picture.

Honestly, Ole Miss handed that game away when they got inside the 10. Awful calls and clock management.

Not sure if it should have been reviewed but if it was it would have been a huge break for Ole Miss as they were out of time outs. The replay should ensure the call is correct but it should not be used in a way to give one team a competitive edge.

If the play requires a replay you have the replay, period, end of discussion. A competitive advantage, hell, this was the difference between a W or a L for both teams.

A play this close HAS TO BE REVIEWED.

I think all reviews are initiated by the replay officials; in this case they were SEC officials..

They can't once the ball is snapped. That's always been the case. There wasn't much time left in the game and therefore replay didn't get a chance to make the decision to review or not review.

Why are people assuming Ole Miss wins the game even if they score there? They would have needed a two-point conversion to even force overtime.

We have yet to see a definitive view. All we can do is speculate. Replay isn't overturning that IMO.

Rhys-Plumlee's decision to run the ball on second down was awful. Poor clock management was also a factor. The refs aren't solely to blame and it hasn't even been proven the call was wrong.
