PSU or talk about how school X is somehow better. The thing is this lineup really could compete another BT title this year and it won't be some shock like 2 years ago. When you have a REALLY GOOD veteran QB and veteran OL, good things tend to happen. Incredible backup QB as well. Yes missing Barkely will hurt, but Sanders is a freak himself and is no slouch at all. Initially people won't be gameplanning their entire D around him, but instead it will be keying on Trace.
JJ and Thompkins have caught some big balls for PSU. JJ to win Iowa, huge TD catch for Thompkins at the shoe. Plenty of young guys ready to step up. Polk, Mac Hipp, Hamlin, Shorter, George, Dotson...etc. There is talent and options there, the cream will rise up. TE is a bit of mystery, but again some bodies are there. Hoping Bowers finally stays healthy and makes an impact.
Great punter always helps, need to find a K....hopefully someone there can be good from 40 on in.
DE is a position of strength and is still pretty young. Miller, Matos, Buchholz and Simmons isn't a bad start to the depth chart. Toney is a bit bigger and has another year under his belt. I would love to see T Brown make a comeback, but if not...someone else will step up.
DT Givens and Widsor have played a ton of football. Hansard and Shelton will need to step up in a big way as there is a bit of a buzz about 2 of the frosh DT's already. Never want your interior filled by frosh, but they need the bodies there. One spot that can make or break PSU this year.
LB...athletic, but are the instincts there. Farmer and Bowen (by game 3-4 IMO) are two nice pieces to have back. Jan Johnson will also fill in as his version of Smith this year. Then you have Cooper, Miller, Cam Brown, Luketa, Parsons, Brooks, Franklin, and Faison Walton filling it out. Katshir probably needs a year for the shoulder . Raw, but pretty athletic over all.
CB's, Reid, Castro Fields and Amani O are a pretty GD good group of starting CB's. This has been a position that used to be a weakness in recruiting not anymore. Zach M, DJ, Butler, Miner Trent Gordon all provide some pretty good depth and competition there. I think Butler is a wildcard that ends up playing quite a bit before his time is done here.
Safties. Scott and Taylor who are both athletic guys, but they need to step it up in their final year. Wade and Sunderland are right there on their toes already. Then you have Monroe, Petrishen, and Humphries providing some depth.
Need things to fall in place at TE, DT, LB, and safety...sounds like a lot, but there are some good bodies up there right now. Sanders will flourish IMO as will the WR's. This offense will put up enough points early on to allow the young defense to grow up. 10 or more wins is very possible with so many big games at home, but the schedule is still pretty tough. B!G east is loaded with 4 teams having at least a shot at the title. Tough crossover games as well with Iowa and Wisky, no break there, but again both are at home. Good time of year is almost here!!!
I know I may have missed a name here or there...so feel free to correct me.
