A great coach once said you are getting better or you are getting worse. I think PSU is still getting better but tOSU continues to be the one thorn in our sides.Tuesdays with Gorney: Really good isn't good enough at Penn State

Of course. You knew around here? Anything less than undefeated and a Natty every year is “mediocrity”.Tuesdays with Gorney: Really good isn't good enough at Penn State

I'll say this for OSU. They weren't the ones who had a player kicked out of the Oregon game for spitting and they weren't the ones who had two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the first half of the PSU game. If you watch that team play, and I watch them as much as I can, I respect how disciplined their players are and, for the most past, how they play the game without the histrionics that have become all too common these days, especially with receivers and d-backs.It was not this year's loss to OSU that was bothersome, but how the loss took place. A 15-yard taunting penalty in the first quarter showed me that this program is still at the "look at me" stage of development, as opposed to being serious about winning at the top level of the sport.
This team has continually gone about exactly as far as its talent will take it, which is about top 10-15 in the country. A championship team needs to become more than the sum of its parts. I see no sign that CJF understands how to make that happen, maybe because he doesn't want to offend certain rodeo clowns on the team.
