The Leftie MSM and cable stations are all going crazy now that Juicy Trudeau has "retaliated" against the US with their "crushing" counter measures.

God Save the Queen! What will we do?

Here's a little math that they conveniently overlook. They proudly display a bar chart showing the amount of fentanyl SEIZED at the Mexican and Canadian borders just last year. The amount SERIZED (not the total imported) shows like 21, 500 lbs seized on the southern border , but a measly 43 lbs SEIZED coming over the Canadian border. Wow! What's the big problem then? The Canadians are "just" allowing .2% on all fentanyl to come in and poison our citizens. Well, I've seen conservate estimates that show over 100,000 American die of fentanyl ODs per year. That would mean that Canada is responsible for a "mere" 200 deaths of Americans per year.... we just had an airliner go down that killed 67 people and it is a MAJOR story, but the poisoning of our citizens (three times those fatalities in one year) is dismissed as trivial. Why bother? Trump is just a Canada hater.

But, if there was a fair analysis of this data, a couple of points would have to be "explained" and they don't want to go there (Canada being a progressive , socialist society after all). One thing is that these numbers are probably understated by a significant degree. First of all, the math I did was based on the fentanyl being SEIZED, not the actual amount entering the country. Which border are we putting a vast amount of our interdiction resources on? Yes, the Mexican border. Which border then would you expect would be allowing more undetected fentanyl into the country. That would be Canada. Then, as I said, the numbers of people killed each year is much higher than 100,000 per year. I've seen some estimates that it is nearly double that rate. So, the 200/year number of deaths caused by Canada not controlling it's border is probably way low. But, let's go with it. So if nothing changes, that means that in 5 years they killed 1000 Americans. In 10 years, they killed 2000 Americans..... at that rate, pretty soon your talking about some worrisome numbers, eh? Imagine the total numbers if the 200/years is actually 5000/year in a couple of years?

But, circumstances are not going to stay the same, are they? Let's consider what will happen to the Mexico/Canada comparison going forward. As we actually start to control our southern border (Thanks, Pres Trump), do you think the cartels will say, "oh. well, it was good while it lasted, let's move on the other enterprises?" No, they'll see the largest shared border in the world dividing their largest consumers of fentanyl and a bunch of beer guzzling hosers and say, "Bingo, lets head up north and re-channel our drugs by those dopes (and get some poteen while we're there.)" Seriously, they probably already have a better penetration rate (not a Trudeau reference) into the US through Canada anyhow, so shifting to those routes will not be beyond consideration at all. So that 200 number suddenly becomes a much bigger number real quickly. Trump is reasonably asking that the Canadians acknowledge this and take proper steps to protect it's neighbor rather that allowing them to be inundated with killer drugs. You know, as a former Canadian hockey idol once said, "You don't skate to where the puck is, you skate to where the puck is going". Is that not applicable here? Yes, it's totally reasonable to assume that we need to direct our attention to this border. So, why haven't we heard a word about any of these possibilities? I'll let you guess why. TDS is alive and well. If the Donald supports any program/plan, it automatically has to be resisted, incorrectly portrayed and/or outright lied about.

This post is already too long, so I won't go into the "great" analysis the Lefties are doing about the relative effects the tariff war will have on both sides. Let's just say that the party with the larger trade SURPLUS whose major exports are mostly available in the other country already is pissing into the wind in a trade war. Lumber? Gas/oil? Beer? Auto parts? C'mon man. They are bringing a pea shooter to a heavy artillery battle.... bless their pointy, little, beanie covered heads.
