I have been using LMCU as my local bank for a few years, requires you open a $5 savings account. i have found checking free as well as free checks for a checking account.

Even though I frequently visit branches full online access is available, sometimes a bit slow.

For those not within reach of a branch location make sure to check out any limitations on how much $$ you can put into a CD opened online. Some credit unions limit it pretty significantly for new members.

Do you know if they have a maximum? My CU will only let new members put in $100 when opening online for some strange reason.

Came across this earlier. I can't vouch for them, no experience. 5.45% for 15mo. Or 5.65% for 9mo.

I'm seeing 4.65% on a 3-month CD, $500 minimum. Tempted to shoot some money over there.
