Former Ohio State star RB Maurice Clarett was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and turn signal violations after being pulled over Sunday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Clarett was summoned to appear in court on Thursday.

Clarett spent one season at Ohio State, rushing for 1,237 yards while scoring 18 touchdowns in helping the Buckeyes win the 2002 BCS National Championship. However, he was dismissed from the program after one season after becoming the center of a scandal involving improper benefits.

Clarett later served 3½ years in prison on robbery and concealed weapons charges, then played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011. He released a book in 2012 in which he boasted of making plenty of money in college and described a life of guns and drugs.

That sucks. I thought he got clean and was doing much better. Jim Brown and some others around him really screwed him up royally. Yes he made bad decisions, but he made them as a frosh not a junior or senior.

Nothing to see here.

It's so awesome that Tosu honored tressel with the 2003 national championship team, that former players hoisted him on their shoulders, and that the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Wasn't this all documented on a 30 for 30 on ESPN? There was one episode that focused on Clarett

NCAA releases press statement saying that this is the type of "football culture" that they are trying to foster and encourage.....

Clearly we have gone through the looking glass and down the rabbit-hole where up is down, day is night, wrong is right and the NCAA is the Mad Hatter of this bizarro kingdom of "higher education". The people running America's largest Univerities, which happens to be the same people who control the NCAA and the BCS-Conference Organization & System, have entirety lost their way regarding integrity, values, principles, mission, culture, etc... What a bunch of self-promoting, exclusively self-interested, narcissistic pond scum.

It is OSU so what is wrong with that? I know a great many OSU grads and fans and EVERY ONE of them sees football players as grunts and nothing more.

The NCAA knows this stuff ($$$) goes on in the majority of the programs across the country, but as long as the money keeps flowing in to cover Mark's $2 million income they aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them. Only when the media (followed by the lemmings) make a big stink over an issue do they at least pretend to care and investigate.

Still waiting for that harsh punishment to UNC for graduating tons of athletes with worthless degrees. You know, the REASON for the NCAA's existence!
