so far, I don't see anybody from PSU's roster registered for the event. (I'm also falling asleep, so perhaps I'm missing someone.) Assuming the link works, you can view the list of registrants at THIS LINK.

Roar, do you have any info about PSU wrestlers that will be competing in the Clarion Open?

Assuming same Roar, he posted on other forum that nobody likely at Clarion, but should see good attendance at Bearcat the following week.

well, there certainly a lot of full brackets. Good showing for the tourney. Would like to see some PSU kids in there though...

maybe a dumb question, but I see two heavies from PSU- Dubois...just wondering what it would take to add then to the Nitts roster? (provided they would want to be added). Would they have to change where they went to class - main campus vs DuBois?

I'm racking my brain trying to think of 1 PSU wrestler that started out at a branch campus. Perhaps androcles or others can think of 1, but I'm drawing a blank.

I suspect that there are athletic transfer rules they would have to follow, as they are competing for PSU - DuBois. I don't think they could be treated as simple branch campus students moving from the branch to Main.

The 2 guys you identified are:

1. Andrew Bigley - a junior from Clarion, PA (Clarion HS)
2. Bryce Hanley - a freshman from Beech Creek, PA (Central Mountain HS)

I don't think Bigley placed at Districts as a junior or senior. Hanley did a bit better. He placed 6th at Districts as a soph, 4th at Regionals as a junior, and didn't place at Regionals as a senior. So neither of them ever made it to States, while by comparison Jon Johnson was a 2X PIAA Champ.

Interesting question -- one I've never thought of before.

I would think they are considered different institutions by the NCAA, not AAA farm teams waiting to send guys up to the bigs (to use a MLB reference). Also would think they have the same transfer rules as schools that are not branch campuses, otherwise football and basketball programs with branch campuses would stockpile the talent and shuffle em back and forth as needed (just like in MLB).

Good analogy. I was trying to think of way to put it myself and that's the best way. If you could stash some talent elsewhere, more schools would be doing it.

Josh Rogers started out at PSU-DuBois before wrestling at main campus. I believe the only limitation going from a branch to main is doing so between semesters.
