Clifford was really ticked off at the defense

He flipped out when Wilson gave up that big pass. They showed him on the sideline clearly saying "that is bullsh*t."

a fan can do that- the starting QB? not so much- if he did it was a poor decision on his part

Well, he did do it; he also threw a water bottle after that play, which was another totally brain-dead play by our defensive backfield. I can understand his anger at this type of play.

No link but TV camera showed him pretty irate after that pass.
Was pretty hard to miss if you watched on TV.

He wasn’t mad at his incompetent D though. He was mad at his incompetent WRs for not making him look as good...

To channel another poster, Should we be outraged? If so, at the D or at Clifford for being outraged?

So he's emotional. He cares, as he should. Just because he vented on the sideline in the heat of the moment doesn't mean he got in anyone's face about it and doesn't mean there is dissension in the locker room.

For once, let's judge only what we saw and not blow up the significance of it by assuming things we did not see. Let's not pretend to know what is going on in the locker room.

Good he needs to play that way as well, Fired up and emotional all game long and on every snap if he dose he is all Big10 maybe All-American.

This doesn't bother me as long as he is equally vocal when the O screws up, and he takes responsibility for his own mistakes. He is a competitor.

We always know what's going on in locker-rooms. ;)

Clifford is his own worst critic. He's not being hypocritical in his anger to the defense. If you saw his post-game interviews after Minnesota, you'd see how devastated he was.

And he had the courage to face the media after the game, unlike our OC...

Even though it was the defense who lost the game against Minnesota

It's not like he was in the defender's face. That didn't even register much with me while watching the game.
Off course he wasn’t in the defenders’ faces. They were still on the field because they inexplicably left a WR completely uncovered in a deep passing situation for the 5th (or so) complete bailout of the game.

but let’s be honest. The offense AND the defense coughed up the game v Minny. And the offense and defense nearly repeated the feat v Indy.

Its poor leadership on Clifford's part. He should be upset and angry, but he should also address it behind closed doors, or apologize for losing his cool. Other defensive players probably heard him, or saw him. They say something to the CB and then there is a fracture in the team.

There's been so much gnashing of teeth on that play but it was just a freshman mistake. Young Wilson just ASSUMED it would be a quick short throw for a 1st down and they mixed it up on him. Indy had other people out so the safeties couldn't help. Probably not a coincidence that they targeted the freshmen.

Next time Wilson reads that situation differently and gives cushion. Giving up the first down in that situation didn't matter a lot so give that up if you have to. All that mattered was keeping the clock rolling and keeping the ball in front of them.

Did the defense flip out after Cliff threw three INTs against Minnesota??

Apples and Oranges. One is a fundamental flaw/execution in a Base prevent defense/plan ( deeper than the deepest). The other is a precision execution with multiple factors contributing to it's success/failure ( weather/temp/wind, grip, route, misread, etc. ....all in less than 4 seconds). I'd be pissed too. This can/should be turned into a positive. Football isn't for snowflakes .

Clifford was pissed.....big fudging deal. Give the kid credit, instead of continuing to celebrate his TD thinking the game was over, he was paying attention to the finish of the game.

I’d hope the entire squad would be pissed about the play.....and do everything they could to encourage the D to buckle up and get after Indy on the next play.....and the next play.....and the next play.

Which game did the OC hide from the media? The minny game where the defense gave up 300+ passing yards or the IU game where the defense gave up 300+ passing yards?
I really want to know if the Defense at PSU has any culpability in this? Because they sure do seem to be getting "another completed" pass.
