just got back from dinner with one the world's leading experts on atmospheric science and determinants of climate. Was a lovely dinner and amazing conversation with brilliant scholar. So it turns out first predictions of climate change from burning coal are over 100 years old and actually quite accurate as this man said "well its all the laws of physics and chemistry". The point were the human contribution to climate change was statistical certainty (you know when the science became "settled"), based on the scientific evidence?? 1970 at which point the climb in temperatures was "2 standard deviations" outside all of the known influences including solar activity, oceanic effects, known climactic oscillations and rhythms which his man defined many of original impacts on climate etc etc etc. All of the things TJ and his propaganda masters going to respond to this post and try and discredit. And by his account there is no doubt human activity directly driving rise in temperatures. Oh and yes his models take into account anything and everything you all are going to throw out there as discreditors water vapor (Wishful Lion) el Nino, solar oscillations, and a whole lot of things that I did not even thing of or know about many of which this guys actually discovered. His agenda?? Understanding the atmosphere and the earth system, pure science. When he started no one actually noticed or was much concerned with his and many others research. The actual bottom line is and was one of the topics we discussed at dinner is that Americans by and large revel in their ignorance and are remarkably unsophisticated about all manner of scientific principle not just as related to earth and atmospheric science but biology (evolution any one) chemistry, physics etc. So go for it TJ, start by insulting me and telling me I am ignorant of the scientific method etc etc etc
