Coac h Franklin brings the heat

Thon night out brought out a lot of people. I was supposed to go but bailed for dinner with a friend.

I hope they had a good crowd. The venue, the fanbase, the history, the support...everything I can think of is in place for the Phillies to be a competive contending team every year, much like the Flyers...It's ridiculous for them to be out of the post season with 60 plus games yet to play.

They got old quickly and the farm was not able to replenish. Ruben Amaro gets much of the blame but I wonder how much his hands might have been tied.

Yeah, Murtaugh was old school before old school was cool. They did have some great teams in the 70s, regrettably at the same time as the Big Red Machine.

The Pirates beat the Reds three straight in the playoffs in 1979, it was the back end of the BRM.

In 1970 and 1972 and 1975 the Reds beat the Pirates in the NLCS. The 72 series was lost in the bottom of the 9th when the Bucs blew a lead.

The Pirates did beat them in the 1979 NLCS enroute to winning the World Series.

Can't wait to see him in action today for B1G Media Days....

Did you support Penn State in 2000,01,03 and 04? We were losers then and I supported them.

Those were truly horrible seasons.....in 2005, even before the OSU game, I was so pumped up when we beat then ranked MN , when Robinson layed the lumber on that safety. That's when I really thought 2005 could be a redemptive season.
