Did you support Penn State in 2000,01,03 and 04? We were losers then and I supported them.Way to support a loser James.
I loved the Pirates as a kid. Man did they have good teams. Danny Murtaugh was the man.No sympathy. For about 20 years, the Pirates were eliminated from the post-season with about 161 games left to play.
They got old quickly and the farm was not able to replenish. Ruben Amaro gets much of the blame but I wonder how much his hands might have been tied.I hope they had a good crowd. The venue, the fanbase, the history, the support...everything I can think of is in place for the Phillies to be a competive contending team every year, much like the Flyers...It's ridiculous for them to be out of the post season with 60 plus games yet to play.
New Castle born and raised Chuck Tanner as well, also a huge PSU fan, not Pitt.I loved the Pirates as a kid. Man did they have good teams. Danny Murtaugh was the man.
The Pirates beat the Reds three straight in the playoffs in 1979, it was the back end of the BRM.Yeah, Murtaugh was old school before old school was cool. They did have some great teams in the 70s, regrettably at the same time as the Big Red Machine.
