Coach Franklin and the heckler...

Lots of talent everywhere except for on the defensive line where there is a gaping hole. Several years ago the gaping hole was the offensive line. Also, I am skeptical of Brian Hartline's ability to run the offense. The last time a legendary position coach was appointed as a coordinator,, Kerry Combs, the former DB coach ran the defense into the ground.
Clearly most don't have the concerns. I'm not sure why you have any doubts in Hartline--Combs failing has nothing to do with him.

I don't think this year will be different. We lose to Ohio State then need a favorable draw in the playoff
Never said anyone was wrong regarding Franklin against top tier teams
Dealing with reality coming off a Final 4 run. Pressure is high this year with the kids returning
You can bet your bippy we will NEVER get a favorable draw like last year aver again!

I am still stunned with how well things broke our way…we played more talented teams last September vs in playoffs b4 ND.

I think the bigger question is 2026 and beyond. Franklin had a top 6 class in 2022 that included Allar, Carter, DDS, Singleton, Allen, Winston, etc. He also picked up 5* Chop Robinson in the portal that year. The 2024 and 2025 teams are benefitting from the players from that class but they will all be gone after this year.

The following 3 classes have all been ranked around 15th. 90% of college football teams would be happy with that but will it be good enough to remain a perennial playoff contender much less get the team over the top vs teams like OSU, Michigan, and Oregon?
This team reached its peak with Zion Tracy’s pick against O$U…going to be heading downhill unless it gets a jolt.

Going to really miss NS and KA after this year.

PSU is listed in everyone's Preseason Top 5 - he clearly has the program going in the wrong direction LMAO.

Here's one that was just published yesterday, PSU ranked #2:

Here's the NCAA Website's listing published in late January, PSU #3:

This is true and based on the talent returning. However all of the pundits and voters still say the same thing….he still has to win A big game. Not the big game, but any. You may not like what Wallace has to say but at the end of each and every year we are left with, “what was the best win?”

To Lando’s point, we beat who was in front of us and made the top 4. Then we faced a real team and……

The cycle does have to end sometime. Doesn’t it?

Stop saying we didn't beat anyone. Then who was good?

Clemson? Hardly.
ASU? No better than Boise.
Tennessee? Playing with a team that tanked intentionally.
Texas and Georgia? Over rated all season because the SEC stunk.
ND caught lightning in a bottle.

ND did catch lightning in a bottle but our best win was...Bosie State?
We played well against ND and Oregon...not so much against Ohio State...but must start winning some of those.
We do a better job of beating the teams we should beat than basically anyone--we need to start winning some 50/50 games and games were not expected to win.

Our best win was probably Minnesota if we are being honest. And no, we did not play well against Oregon. Go watch the first quarter. That was the real game before Oregon went super conservative on defense forcing us to drive the length of the field on every possession while there offense was able to move the ball and score at will while shelving high risk plays. That game was not actually competitive at any point. We played well against Notre Dame for a half, after that, not so much. One fluke play kept us in the game that had turned once Al Golden figured out the smoke and mirrors that is our offense. We didn't beat a good team last year and really haven't since Washington in in the bowl game.
