I noticed JJ render the hush symbol in the end zone after his TD. I assume it wasn't to our fans. Pretty innocent, however, can a player be flagged by an over zealous official for that?

I would think so but don’t know the rules for certain. I don’t like it. Don’t really see the point. Score, celebrate with your teammates and move on. No need to taunt fans sitting in the stands.

I didn't see an issue with it, just like I didn’t when he did it in Iowa City. I’d expect for an opposing wide receiver to do the same thing to our student section if the game was at Beaver Stadium.

They stopped calling it years ago. Quick, name the last player to be flagged for it? If you said Bill Belton, you win a cigar.

Delay of game due to players on the field.
OK, regardless of which of us is right or wrong, I've officially lost my mind. I pulled up the game on the DVR to watch the end. After the interview with Barkley, I went and grabbed something to drink. I'm watching the TV and I'm seeing highlights of Oklahoma beating Baylor. I think to myself "WTF, I'm following the thread on Army and Okie going to overtime, how the he$$ can they be playing Baylor?????"
Right before I realized I was still watching the DVRo_O

It was absolutely called on JJ in Iowa City if you watch the game again the official clear makes the gesture to the to the head official on what the flag was for.

App State players did it to our fans when they took the lead late in the 4th quarter. It’s become a cliche now, just like most things in sports.

Give the ball back to the ref and act like you’ve been there before. I hope they throw a flag every time. And at some point we will get a flag when it matters and the selfish act will hurt the team. Celebrate with your teammates and get off the field. And while I’m telling kids to get off my grass I could do without the home run swing and belly rub as well. But that’s just my opinion as an old school old guy. I guess if we aren’t getting flagged it’s fine. But the first time we get a flag, Franklin needs to shut it done.

True, but we tend to think, or at least say, we are better...that we should act more honorably. If so, it can start with the little things and the big things will take care of themselves. Some guy said that once. I think he might have even been a coach here.

Old school guys like us tend to think that way. Hell, I'm so old school my lessons were written on papyrus.;)

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this one from yesterday. I watched about three plays from the Minny-MD game. One of those was a pick-six Interception return.

Dback gets to end zone and does some mild celebration for his effort. I think it was a still pose. Another player fakes that he has a camera and snaps a photo of the still pose. That player who snapped the photo was cited for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Can you believe it?

That had to be the most stupid Unsportsmanlike call in the history of mankind. No taunting. No words or gestures to an opposing player. It was nothing at all other than two guys celebrating a big play and six points.

If plays like that are penalty-worthy, Lord help us all. Shut down the game now.
