College Football News says PSU Overrated

?? I gotta think that the Hawkeyes have better talent than the Mildcats.

IDK, I think NW is bette rand they have the 2nd best back in the league and an experienced QB that was getting pretty good. The'll have to find some wr's cause they lost their AA Carr to the draft and he'll tough to replace plus I think they lost their next best wr to a preseason injury. They always have a scrappy defense, especially with Fitzgerald as coach, and they have Fitzgerald he seems to have Franklin's number going all the way back to his Vandy days.

Penn State Nittany Lions
They’ll be good, but they’re not going to repeat the Big Ten championship magic.

RB Saquon Barkley will be amazing, QB Trace McSorley will be solid, and the defense should have its moments of dominance, but now the bar is set higher and just finishing with a nice bowl appearance will seem a little bit flat.

The Nittany Lions get Michigan at home, but they go to Ohio State and Michigan State over the following two weeks, and they have to go to Iowa – ask 2016 Michigan what that’s like.

Again, it’ll be a good team, but three regular season losses will seem a whole lot more than the three losses overall last year.

Will be very tough winning BIG10 again.,, I don't see OSU losing and our game could go either way... If we lose in Columbus obviously we have to win ALL of our other games.,, a lot tougher schedule with home/away than last year.

But... We will also be much better than we were last year as well...

I don't know how you can say that OSU isn't losing. They lost a lot of talent on defense. Hooker and Conley were first rounders. Samuels in the second. They also lost their only good receiver in Samuels. JT Barrett has not proven himself as a good passer, they have no established WR's.

They've recruited well and are deep, but are not game tested at a lot of positions.

But if we lose to them and they win the Big, shouldn't that put us in the playoffs?:)

Everything that you said has merit, but I'm more prone to take things on a year-by-year and case by case situation. In 2015, Northwestern actually beat PSU with their backup quarterback. They actually put together a short drive with that backup qb to win the game over PSU. That game, as I remember it, was quite bizarre. PSU had something like 6 straight 3 and outs to start the game. Hackenberg hit the referee with two passes. Northwestern had a kickoff return for a touchdown against Coach Franklin's walkons. Grant Haley, who would later become the big time play maker he is now, dropped two interceptions, one that would have sealed the game. PSU did not have the two great Offensive coaches they have now. In the case of 2014, that game is best left as a dusty game film sitting on a shelf somewhere. We did not play them last year. Yes, the Wildcats are going to be a tough out, especially on the road, but the PSU of 2017 has a much better shot at finding a way to win.

That game was tough to watch PSU throw away, much like the Pitt and USC games last year. There was also a Maryland game a few years ago that was the same way.
