Like your post; just curious where the rankings you quote are from.Boise has the advantage in most categories offensively. Penn State has the advantage by a wide margin defensively. But this doesn't take into account the huge disparity in competition in which these stats were accrued. I thought the Mountain West Conference was a decent football conference. It is not. IIn fact, it is much worse than the ACC It's the 9th worst among the 10 leagues, behind the MAC, In fact, Bowling Green is ranked ahead of all Mountain West teams except Boise and UNLV.
UNLV is the second best team Boise has played on its schedule, at 36th best among 134 FBS teams. After that, every team on the Boise schedule is ranked 75th or worse among 134.
Penn State played six teams - Oregon, OSU, Minn., SMU, USC and Ill., ranked higher than UNLV. For 10 of its 13 games, Boise has played teams the equivalent of Purdue every week. Minnesota, Illinois and USC would have gone 12-1 with Boise's schedule. BTW, doormat Purdue is ranked ahead of six Mountain West teams.

That math also doesn't math.I believe they have a typo on BSU's Pass Defense.... supposed to be 261, not 361, per game.
