Claims that PSU has never fired a basketball coach. Calls Parkhill 'legendary.' Funny.

Sure, Parkhill "resigned" Well, in fairness to the author, he was probably not even born yet and everyone who remembers is long gone.

Dunn's "resignation" was a polite way of reporting that he had been fired

The overall point of the article is more than sound.

Penn State Athletics has never shown a willingness to spend any significant amount of money to bring in a high-level coach. Prior to Chambers, the previous two head coaches –– Jerry Dunn and Ed DeChellis –– were both assistants under legendary coach Bruce Parkhill.

Dunn resigned two seasons after reaching the Sweet 16 and DeChellis left his Penn State, his alma mater, after reaching the NCAA Tournament to take the same job at Navy. Penn State coaches shouldn’t be leaving to take the same job at a Patriot League school.

But that’s the reality with the Penn State program.

That’s why Chambers was brought in. He coached a Patriot League school, Boston University, to an NCAA Tournament appearance and was a fiery, young coach who worked under Jay Wright at Villanova.

It was the hire Penn State wanted –– because it was justifiable and cheap.

So if Chambers is let go, why would the next coach be any different?

You're basically starting from square one again.

Tyler raises the usual good points. However, he fails to address the lack of an offensive system which stunts player development. Fails to address Chambers record against the Big Ten. Fails to address the fact that last years team was apparently held back by poor coaching. Of course, the whipped cream on top is "who are you going to bring in?".

John Bach was definitely shown the door. If Tyler wants to say he "wasn't fired"....whatever semantics you want to use for a cream puff article.

Just a really bad job of running down the facts. Parkhill was fired, period. At best he was allowed to resign before being fired. Dunn was also fired.
