I've seen a ton of Penn State fans really upset about how this match turned out. I can't for the life of me figure out why (except for maybe just a general dislike of Desanto). For those that are upset, why? You got the maximum amount of team points and the match will count for seeding at Big Tens. Obviously, you would have preferred RBY to win outright, but this outcome had 100% positive effects for you and 100% negative effects for Iowa, so why the frustration?

 The Iowa fan can't figure out why PSU fans would dislike beyond blatant and ridiculous homer refereeing - go figure. LOL

you need to file the hook somewhat. you're welcome.

I'm in the minority here in thinking that DeSanto wasn't faking an injury, but merely assumed he was hurt. If you've never felt that pressure on your knee when it's being flexed to the outside, it's pretty easy to think of the worst case scenario and 'tap out', for lack of a better term.

So I don't believe DeSanto necessarily quit per se, I just think he was protecting himself from what he thought was a serious injury. It's hard to imagine a situation where he'd just give up if he wasn't feeling some discomfort there. I think that he was scared that he was really injured and panicked a little bit.

I was never upset about the result, but disappointed in all of the #hottakes from both sides.

RBY isn't a dirty wrestler looking to injure an opponent, and DeSanto probably didn't intentionally fake an injury to save his ego. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one.

Same also tapped out against Daton last year. That sort of uncomfortableness is part of wrestling, so he might want to figure it out.

Occam's razor, eh? Somebody spent some time in the healthcare profession.

What was ridiculous about the refereeing? It gave your team 7 points in this match including the team point. It couldn't have gone more in your favor.

I think Askren had a pretty good take on this. The first pop really rattled him, so when he felt RBY going to the same thing again he didn't fight it at all to save the pain.

I would have rather had it been a win by wrestling instead of someone getting injured and unable to continue. These guys want to compete and beat the best. If RBY wins by wrestling, which I think he would have, then all this “win didn’t count” or “shouldn’t count” talk wouldn’t even exist.

No doubt that the second time he just put the leg out there. I have tried this with my son and the only way to protect the leg is to turn the foot like RBY did. However, if you do not get some elevation to the knee as you pull the foot out, it hurts. It will be interesting to see what or if the NCAA addresses this move. It looked like RBY intentionally moved the foot to the only safe angle. Apparently, it was not safe enough in that position. If Desanto would have been in apposition that allowed his weight to come off the knee, I think it would not have popped.

I highly doubt this is what he was doing. I'm not saying he was intentionally trying to injure either. He was just executing the hold. The hold happens to be dangerous. I personally think it should be illegal because of all the injuries I've seen from it. But I don't think any less of RBY for hitting it.

Rby was going to pin him and he knew it. The second time the leg was not in an awkward position and he gave up. Brands was ready to leave him on the mat.
^^^^^^this^^^^^^^. Everyone here has either played enough, watched enough and coached enough sports to know what happened.

Watching the match , I thought Desanto knew he was in trouble both times. I personally wished RBY would have gotten to finished it. I could of cared less about the team point.
It would of lingered for Desanto throughout the rest of the season.

Well if you strip away the debate about the ref, what might have been going on in AD's head, the impact on the dual and everything else. The key takeaway for me is, RBY comes away from this match confident and fearless for the next go around. He can work him. AD comes away with the opposite mental picture. I can't wait.

Did your son have to injury default?;)

I have to admit that it does bother me that RBY has to wrestle DeSanto with his left arm back or behind his back. He had the same issue with the Nebraska kid and that 2 on 1 or Russian tie. Hey, RBY beat them both while "handicapped" and it has proven to be an effective defense I guess, but I'd like to see him come up with a more effective defense without giving up an arm.

After he locked up two cradles I was ok with it. ;)

It doesn’t bother me when RBY wins.
