Congrats to Coach Franklin - NATIONAL Coach of the Year (link)

Wisconsin really did have a great year. They were 31st in preseason poll and apparently not expected to win more than 7 games.

Of course, WE were losing our franchise QB and DL and much of our OL... and did not receive one vote for the top 25.

I like that their coach received accolades on a job well done... but the coaches in the B1G should have realized that Franklin was more deserving. It also tells you they fully expected Wisky to beat us... and they wanted to have voted for the guy man who coached the winning team. Oopsie.

The national vote was taken after the season (correct me if I'm mistaken) and it was much simpler to vote JF... had we lost to Wisky, I'd imagine Chryst gets the nod.

speaking of voting.. someone has to explain to me why the heisman is voted for prior to season's end. Apparently a lot of ballots were cast before Lousiville laid a huge turd vs KY (no jokes, ahem)... on senior day... with a big bowl on the line... no rain or snow... AT HOME. imo, had the voters waited, a good many would not have voted for Jackson. We'll see how it plays out....

Thank you for posting Picker, my wife and I were somewhat disappointed that James was overlooked by the B1G. This article makes the B1G look like fools.

Penn State has seen this type of thing from the rest of the B1G from the start, beginning with the 7-3 voting to barely allow them in, to the 1994 voting, to the sanctions and lost bowl money. Penn State has been and always will be seen as a redheaded step child of the B1G. The 1 in the logo might as well be changed to a 2 to represent OSU and UM.

But over on the Lair they are elated because Franklin didn't get fired when his seat was on fire.Franklin's a terrible coach and they'll win the next three games because Darduzzi is a defensive genius! I just can't figure those Pitters out?

They smoke some strong weed over there. On top of that I think many must drop acid or like mushrooms. There are some incredible posts.

Do you think maybe national coach if the year could earn him an extension and a bump for his assistants? I mean Dana Holgerson has been at WVU six years and just signed his second extension.
If there are any contract issues to resolve, I would hope they are resolved damn quickly

You guys probably don't care but the last time an Ohio State coach won Big Ten coach of the year was 1979. 2002 National champs and Ferentz won it. 2014 National Champs and Jerry Kill wins it.

Don't remember anything about Minny's season in '14 but IMHO, the job Meyer did that year was as good of a coaching job as I've ever seen. Lose your Heisman-candidate QB less than 2 weeks before the season, endure a pretty dominating home loss where VT sort of overwhelmed them and rally the team back from that, then lose your QB in the last game of the season and have the third stringer come in and make his first career start and go 3-0, winning the B1GCG 59-0, beating "unbeatable" Alabama and then Oregon for the NC. Just amazing. When you sit back and look at what OSU accomplished that year, it really is just a thing of beauty. Not sure Meyer will ever do a better job than he did that year.

Fluke.

1300,
I posted earlier in the week about contracts. My thinking is give Franklin an extension, along with all assistants. A "thank you, great job" type raise for Franklin, but take what could have been given Franklin and make the assistants some of the best paid - coordinators at least - in the business.

OL

The Big10 was a national football joke prior to Penn State becoming the 11th member. Penn State allowed the conference to regain a sense of athletic superiority, but the conference has been bitter as hell ever sense.
The fact that something like half of the conference's national championships have been won by Penn State programs (since Penn State's conference entry) probably makes it harder to swallow.
If Franklin's football program becomes the flag bearer for the conference, well that is just a bit too much.
Shit. Can you imagine the massive meltdown if Chambers does for PSU basketball what Franklin is doing with football.
