This board is unreal on game day. Consider these:
1. If you were told before the season that we would finish the season 7-5, all but the die hard fans with the homer glasses on said they would take it. Does the situation change because of the circumstances of this loss? I don't think so.
2. We lost by two to a ranked team on the road who had an extra week to prepare. I am not ashamed to lose a close one like that.
3. We played, by my count, at least 18 RS freshmen or true freshmen today. We are YOUNG! Players like Cabinda & Reeder who were out of position at times today are learning vast amounts of priceless on the job training. Young players make mistakes, even in game 10. Next year & especially the year after, this will be a position of strength. Next year Haley makes that pic.
4. The angry 'Franklin sucks' fans- I appreciate the passion, but get real & go chill for a couple days & stay off of here. Yeah, he messed up. We had a dozen other chances to win the game before that.
5. Mike Giesicki could have gone anywhere & came to PSU knowing full well the issues. Not everyone can be Gronk. The drops will hopefully clear up. Mike, thanks for trying your best. Ripping players is shameful. Some of you near destroyed Sam Ficken & look what happened to him.
6. Everyone wants instant gratification in this day & age. This team is not a top 10 team. If you're tired of hearing about sanctions, deal with it because we are still majorly affected by them. We have solid young talent. We have a very strong class coming in if we can hang on to them. God help us in the den with some of you because next year, at least on paper, should be worse than this year and should be the bottom. It's going to be crazy here.
7. I will predict it right now: Everyone on this site continuously bashing Hack will be missing him big time next year. First season QBs in the BIG do not do well. Our new QB is going to make mistakes & frustrate the hell out of a lot of people, maybe more than Hack, so get ready for that. ("Why the hell are they running that read option?! Get McSorley out of there! He can run the option but he can't throw worth sh**". Book it.)
8. Have those of you bashing Hack yet realized just how handicapped he & the OC are with play calling because of our OL? Why don't you ask Andrew Luck if a pro bowl QB can still have success when he has no line. Does Luck suck now too? Put Connor Cook behind our line-what do you think happens? Better yet, put Hack behind the MSU line.
9. We should be really good in 2017. That is the first year when my expectations go up significantly. This year & next we are still playing with house money. In 2017, I will hold our coaches feet to the fire.
10. Two of the 5 most important recruits to keep in the next class are the kickers. Hopefully even the least knowledgeable fan on here should now realize how much field position has cost us this year. We cannot lose either one, especially Nordin.
11. We played Ohio State tight into the early 4th quarter & almost beat a ranked team on the road after their bye today. We aren't as far off as some think if we can do that. The potential is there. Last year, we got toasted by those two teams. We are progressing folks.
12. While the kickers have the most recruiting impact, hitting on our OL recruits is going to be key. I sure would like to see Jenkins out there for 3 years & have Connor McGovern develop into a 3 year starter.
13. This was the game I thought we could win. While we are at home for Michigan & have a bye & the game will be later, we just don't have the OL to pull that one off. We seem to be destined for 7-5. I hope the bowl is somewhere warm. I'm still going either way.
14. Thank God recruits don't think like 'fans' on this board do, and thank God most of them don't read the horse s**t on here. We aren't going to lose recruits based on our record this year. They get it.
15. Can someone tell me what year it was where we had Bama on the ropes & we had a FG attempt on the last play of the game from extra point distance & it was blocked? I was so hoping for that today.
