Can someone update me on the next court dates for the following:

Paterno Law Suit?

Curley and Shultz?

Spanier v Freeh Defamation?

Certainly not the best place for a 1st date. Most courts do not allow soft drinks or popcorn. Try a movie, or baseball game before you get that serious.:)

The CSS trial delays are bordering on (if not well beyond) ridiculous by now. When are they to meet again? The fact the local media has given a complete pass on looking into this issue is unreal.

I have been saying the exact same thing for well over a year....It's truly amazing that this University continues to back these delays. There have been capital murder trials that have taken half as long to see the courtroom. Hell, Watergate didn't take this long.

It's really bordering on criminal right now, that these three haven't seen a courtroom, and NOBODY seems to care.

Yep. In the beginning I attributed the delays to the normal courtroom battle of attornies but watching judges take 1 (if not 2) years to rule on objections like statute of limitations (have they even ruled on that yet?) has led me to believe there's more going on here. For God's sake the Nurnberg trials after WW2 tried 23 people and only took 1 year. We are now at 3+ years in the CSS trials. They are either being delayed by the rumored (but not definite) Fed investigation or the state knows it has no case and is delaying as long as possible. The fact no judge pushes the issue is troubling as well.

Only half jokingly, I say I doubt we'll see CSS trials in our lifetimes.

That statement, on the surface, sounds like a joke, but that may very well be....There is no end in sight and no media outlet will even touch it....not even in op-ed pieces.

I know what you mean. I can't believe there's no oversight on judges where some district official says what's taking so long in this case that isn't progressing? And how the media can just ignore it and pretend like it's not happening really bothers me. The days of an independent media keeping government in check are long gone.

Even here in this thread...I can't believe that there are just, like 5 or 6 of us who are the only ones who see how blatantly terrible this is: They are deliberately delaying these trials and it seems as if everyone is just letting this go. The WORST part is that media is ignoring this. The Centre Daily Times, the LOCAL newspaper...day after day, month after month, year after YEAR, and no op-ed pieces, nobody investigating this, nobody asking questions, and it's OUR UNIVERSITY that is responsible for this incredible, almost unreal 3 plus year ordeal with no end in sight.

i see it and I don't understand it....it has frustrated me for about 2 years now...we NEED to have at least one media member look into this or write about it because it is beyond ridiculous now...the longer it drags out the better it looks for the defendants IMO

21, there are far more than just a few of us. It's just that this discussion has been repeated over and over. Gets to the point where you just don't know what to say anymore. Some will undoubtedly be on here claiming that this is what the defense wants. I've heard those claims, but don't see the logic.

I hear ya. I realize it's a dead horse.

But this is just incredible....

Is there anything else we can do to get a media member to pay attention and write about this? Maybe its just not a story that resonates with the general public but to me, as this thing gets to the 4 year mark and no courtroom appearances it becomes more and more of a story.

I've seen this here where in a minor case the judge just kept delaying his ruling for no discernible reason (not a tough case either). Took him about a year to get around to it. I wonder if part of the reason is because the judge hopes one or more parties will settle/take a deal in some way shape or form, and he won't have to make a ruling that will be second guessed by the appeals court later (or by the public).

Or given that Curley's health was known to bee poor going into this thing, maybe they are hoping he will die first. That sound cynical, I realize, but....

The media just doesn't care. The general public forgets after a week and gets on with their own lives focusing on what the Kardashians are doing.

I have no hope for any coverage from the CDT or pennlive/ Patriot News. Charles Thompson (and others) at Pennlive write every article on this mess as anything said by the BoT is gold, everyone is guilty, and anything said by alumni trustees or people like us is to be ignored, or openly questioned/ mocked. I've literally see them write stories centered on actions by the alumni reps that were just press releases from the old guard BoT- they never even bothered to get an alumni rep's reaction or point of view to balance the story.

With the CSS trial- they have assumed long ago that the 3 are guilty and so "details" like an actual trial are trivial and not that important to them. It's downright scary how PC forces in the media control the approach. There's no more 'just the facts maam'. We've seen it in reporting of other issues too (cough Ferguson cough).

No small time local journalist will ever touch this story...it's career suicide.
Not sure why this is so hard to understand.

Even a national journalist would have similar concerns. Largely because the original crimes of Sandusky are considered to be so horrendous in our culture.
