After watching yesterday and looking at all of the players who are dinged on D, I would love to see the starting D sit this game out. The front seven could get very banged up against a team that cut blocks like they do and I believe that our second team unit can handle them. Also, the starting secondary (safeties especially) could use a break and let some of the backups get some valuable playing time. They can't throw the ball. We have a lot of redshirt freshman who could play in the secondary. This could be treated like a bye week/scrimmage for the d. We already had to burn some redshirts at lb so why not play them and get them valuable game experience and avoid further injury to our starting unit. I know that the option requires assignment football and this is where you can find out if the backups can really do it and rest your horses. The O will be able to score even with the injuries at rb. This is nothing against Army but they lost to Fordham and Fordham is a crappy FCS team at best. I realize this is a crazy idea but I have seen many teams face an option team and lose valuable players to injury. Army is not a threat. I would also like to see the second team O get some meaningful series throughout the game. They need the work too. I know that people are going to blast me for this set of wacky ideas but it could really benefit the team in the long run.
