The PRC
California State University, Bakersfield or Cal State-Bakersfield or CSU Bakersfield or CSUB or Bakersfield State or Oklahoma University in California (yes, that one is made up).

125 – Hernandez-Figueroa (So) <Hesperia, CA> or Flores (Fr) <Northview, CA>

Alex Hernandez-Figueroa went 9-6 (0-1 in duals) last season. Eddie Flores is an incoming freshman who finished 2nd in the state in 2017 @106. The new starter will be taking over for Sergio Mendez who went 24-14 overall and 2-2 in the tournament.

133 – Nickell (Sr) <Bakersfield, CA>

Sean Nickell is back for his last season with the Roadrunners. He went 24-12 overall and 2-2 in the tournament (with an upset of #9 seed Dennis Gustafson). Nickell also qualified in 2017, going 0-2.

141 – Rohlfing (Jr) <Sonora, CA>

Russell Rohlfing went 22-12 overall and 0-2 in the tournament last season. He also qualified in 2017, going 0-2.

149 – Tonge (Jr) <Elk Grove, CA>

Kalani Tonge went 8-21 as the starter last season.

157 – Thalin (Jr) <Santa Teresa, CA>

Jacob Thalin went 13-8 splitting time between 157 and 165 last season (2-4 in duals @165). Thalin was the starter @157 in 2017 (didn’t qualify for the tournament). He will be taking over for 3-time qualifier Coleman Hammond (0-2 in 2018, 1-2 @149 in 2017, 2-2 @149 in 2016). Hammond went 27-16 overall last season.

165 – Annis (Jr) <Bakersfield, CA>

Josh Annis went 11-4 as a redshirt last season (he was a transfer from Fresno CC). Lorenzo De La Riva was the starter last season going 12-12 and didn’t qualify for the tournament (he qualified in 2017, going 0-2). De La Riva transferred to North Dakota State.

174 – Battisto (Sr) <Harbor, CA>

Bryan Battisto went 12-16 as the starter last season (no wins against qualifiers).

184 – Ducharme (So) <Windsor, CA>

Dom Ducharme went 18-15 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. He had one win against a qualifier, Chaz Polson (Wyo).

197 – Loomer (So) <Cajon, CA>

Josh Loomer went 5-4 in opens last season. He will be taking over for two-time qualifier Matt Williams who went 30-9 on the season and 2-2 in the tournament. He was the Roadrunners only seeded wrestler at the tournament (#15). Williams went 3-2 (R16) at the tournament in 2017. [Williams wrestled up @heavyweight in 2016 and had the Roadrunners only win against Penn State vs Jan Johnson.]

Heavy – Penyacsek (Jr) <Gilroy, CA> or Snyder (So) <Frontier, CA>

Mark Penyacsek wrestled up from 184 and went 8-17 as the starter last season (2-7 in duals). Jarrod Snyder also got some starts last season (1-4 in duals) and went 6-10 overall.

Cal State-Bakersfield loses 3 of their 5 qualifiers from last season and loses a former qualifier to transfer. They finished in 33rd place with 9.5 points last season. It’s not looking good to match that this season. Unfortunately, this team is in a down cycle. Hopefully it’s temporary.

Bummer! Was hoping to catch up with you sometime. It's an easy drive for me, so I plan on being there unless something unexpected happens. FSU will be there and I heard that AJ Nevills is up to 270 lbs. It will be interesting to see how he does with the extra pounds added.
